What you'll do

Explore with me the most impressive Inca site of Cusco, the fortress of Sacsayhuaman! On this walking tour, you will not only see the colossal stones on the walls of this site, but also explore the Throne of the Inca, natural slides made of stone and a small underground cave. Those sites are almost never included on the regular guided tours, what a unique experience!

We will meet at 9 am at the fountain of the Main Square, and after walking uphill for about 15 minutes, we will reach the Mirador de San Cristóbal, a unique viewwpoint of Cusco. We will walk for another 15 minutes to the main gate of Sacsayhuaman. Here I will show you the astonishing stone structure built by my ancestors, and its importance in our history.

I will also show you a hidden part fo Sacsayhuaman that few guides actually visit. On the other side of the complex is the Throne of the Inca, a beautifully carved rock outcrop, and the Suchuna (slide), a fun rock slide made of natural volcanic stone.

Our next attraction will be the Cristo Blanco statue, another amazing viewpoint of the magical city of Cusco. Finally, at about 11:30 am we will walk back downhill to your hotel in Cusco.

Where you'll be

Sacsayhuaman is easily the most impressive archaeological site in Cusco. Its massive stone walls are on itself an impressive feat of the ancient Incas, and a very important historical site for our culture. But there are also some hidden attractions that most tour companies skip, due to time. We will visit each on this attractions while I show you a singular perspective of the empire of my ancestors, the Incas.

This is probably the best archeological tour I’ve been to. The place is amazing but Franklin really makes history come through with his storytelling. I highly recommend it if you want to test your endurance to altitud before visiting Machu Picchu, while learning about the final Cusco showdown between the Incan Empire and the colonizers.

This was a great tour. Franklin was very patient and understanding about taking rest stops because of altitude. He was also very knowledgeable about the history of Cusco. Plenty of time for pictures and really enjoyed the entire experience. Highly Recommend.

Franklin is a very good guide, very knowledgeable. He does an excellent job of telling the history of the Sacsayhuaman ruins. The walk was filled with beautiful views. As an older Floridian, it was a bit exhausting, but worth it.

This is a great tour! Explore all around the historical section of Cusco, learn about the Incan empire while exploring the ruins of Sacsayhuaman and Q’enqo. Finish off the hike at scenic Christi Blanco, where you can see the whole city of Cusco, and even take a photo or two! Guides are very communicative and friendly, and go the extra mile to make sure your tour is enjoyable! They run independently and separate from big touring companies so they really do care about your experience!
