What you'll do
Craving the freshest possible seafood? Learn the tricks of crabbing with a Charleston native who’s been doing it for years. This is a land based experience.
You will meet at a dock on a beautiful river to master the delicate art of throwing a cast net. You can even set bait and fish—it’s as hands-on as you’d like. Don’t worry about having the right skills; there’ll be plenty of activities available for everyone. Anyone 16 and up will require a saltwater fishing license.
The freshest seafood is what you can catch yourself, so expect to nab a crab, shrimp, and a variety of fish, too.
Other things to note
Everyone must wear a mask. There are no boats involved. We can catch and release or you can keep anything of legal size. We follow all South Carolina Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations.

I am a proud Charleston native with a passion for the outdoors and marine life. My family has been crabbing and casting for fun and food for generations. Crabbing has been therapeutic for me and gave me an outlet when I quit smoking, helping me become a healthier person in more ways than one. Then, when a friend started a Facebook page called "Casual Crabbing with Tia" and posted photos of my adventures, people started asking to come along and flocking to the docks. Within a few hours, those who start off as strangers end up as friends, and I love getting to share my passion with others.

Where you'll be
We'll meet at a private dock and pier in downtown Charleston. It’s a gorgeous pier on the water’s edge and has one of the best sunset views in the city.

Tia is an Airbnb star and local treasure with deep Charleston roots. Tia and best friend Art the Aquaman taught us to catch crabs and how to hang onto them without losing fingers. We loved hearing her story of how her journey to better health led her to nature for healing. In this experience, Tia helped us connect with where our food comes from and the beautiful fragile habitats that feed us. We left happy with food for bellies and nourishment for our soul.

Tia and Art were awesome! We had such a great time learning about crabs, how to catch them and hanging with our teachers. They were friendly, knowledgeable and created a wonderfully curated experience that anyone is sure to enjoy. It’s always a good feeling when you walk away wishing you could hang out with your hosts! Book them for a great time and some delicious dinner :)

If you’re visiting the Charleston area, you must do this experience with Tia!! Connor was great but isn’t with every day. Amazing instruction, fun stories, and never would have guessed she hasn’t been doing this all her life. Tia was amazing with working thru picking up a crab, even for those who are nervous. So fun, great photo captures, and laughs! Well worth the value for the memories and fun! Loved it! We hope the slogan, “you got crabbed” will stick 😊
