Pantalica is the oldest burial site in Europe, with over 500 tombs carved into the limestone rockfaces. It is situated in one the most beautiful and dramatic valleys in Sicily. A place filled with mystery and the timeless flourish of nature.
Pantalica is a natural reserve, with its breathtaking beauty and historic importance recognised as a World Heritage Site under the Unesco scheme. We will take a tour of the most important archeological places, experiencing the lush nature in which primitive people thrived in possibly Europe's biggest settlement of the bronze age. We will walk down to refresh and swim in the clear water of the Calcinara River.

I am one of the best English speaking certified nature guide/city tour guide in the East of Sicily, I worked as Sicily's location scout/translator for BBC nature documentaries . I spend more time in nature than any other place. I especially love to share the secret river pools and waterfalls, coastline of my Sicilian childhood. I also manage my beautiful riverside off-grid farm where I grow all the vegetables needed for my young family's survival. I am an avid researcher of old Sicilian traditions. Fun, knowledge and stunning locations are my main ingredients for an unforgettable experience

Best full day in Sicily!! Carlo’s tour really opened up a mysterious and very beautiful ancient site. It’s a marvellous location, but without Carlo’s story telling we would have missed so much. His stories about the people and knowledge of the history of the area was really special. He also showed us a lot of the local plants and how they forage. I learned so much on this trip!! We also loved the swimming in the river. Cold but it will probably be one of the most memorable moments from our trip to Sicily. Carlo was also the most generous and enthusiastic host! We loved every minute of our experience!!! Thanks Carlo!!

We had a great day out with Carlo in a beautiful landscape. Carlo's passion for the Pantalico - the geology, its history and the flora and fauna - shone through and he was fun to be with. He has a strong interest in the environment and ecology and did a great job of using his expertise as an entomologist together with his natural enthusiasm as a guide.

This is a great way to see the Pantalica. Carlos took us in a direction most people do not go, so we were able to see areas that we would not have seen otherwise, and were really beautiful. We were a small group, so we were able to really spend time in the caves which was fantastic and Carlos had a lot of knowledge about how they were used. The hike into the canyon was beautiful and you can tell this is a place that Carlo really loves. We really enjoyed hearing about his life and how he and his wife are trying to live off their land. Overall, a wonderful day and we highly recommend it.
