What you'll do

After a brief safety speech, we will shove off the dock and head into the scenic Charleston Harbor. As we raise the sails and turn the engine off, you'll immediately feel the relaxation set in and discover why the sailboat is named Mental Heeling.
You'll be involved as much (or as little) as you prefer as we navigate the Harbor together. Tacking and gybing our way to the various landmarks including: Fort Sumter, The Battery, USS Yorktown, Castle Pinckney and the iconic Ravenel Bridge.
Guests under the age of 13 will be required to wear a life jacket per the US Coast Guard. I will have adult and child life jackets onboard.

After being laid off from the Financial Industry in 2009 during the "Great Recession" I decided to migrate south and trade spreadsheets for sailing. In 2014, I purchased my 1988 30ft Catalina MKII and named her Mental Heeling as that is what she does best. Come out and see one of the most beautiful cities as it was meant to be seen, from the water.

If your thinking of going sailing in your future, my wife and I suggest you book with Mental Heeling. I wasn’t really excited about the idea at first but I am so glad I had the experience. Captain Jay is very professional at what he does and is very passionate about everyone enjoying the sailing experience as much as he does. We learned so much and we will be booking again in the future. Thanks again, Tad and Becky Butler

A fun experience! We chose to sit back and relax but Capt Jay did invite people to help raise and lower sails, etc.

Jay did a great job tailoring the trip to suit each of us. I preferred to learn a little about sailing so he gave me plenty of hands on time. Some of the others just wanted to enjoy the ride and that was fine too.

Jay had a great tour of the harbor, we had a fantastic time on Mental Heeling! We were given the chance to be involved in the sailing process, he also explained how each component worked. It was a fantastic sail through Charleston Harbor, and we will definitely do it again next time we are in town! Highly recommended!
