What you'll do

Visit New Mexico's expansive high plains, roll up your sleeves for morning chores and some very special time with our varied and expansive herd.

Walkin N Circles Rescue Ranch is home for up to 50 horses who have been abandoned, neglected or abused. After bringing a horse back to physical strength, the real work begins to regain their trust in humans, to gently teach them how to be safe around humans, and ultimately find them a loving, forever home.

Meet several of these horses up close; feed them, clean their water, muck their stall, prep their feed bag for the following day and then spend one-on-one time grooming and petting. Photo opportunities, horse hugs and warm fuzzy feelings will abound.

Monday guests will then watch in awe as our head trainer gently works with one of the wild mustangs or feral horses. Depending on the horse's mood of the day, don't be surprised if you are invited in to the arena

ON ALL DAYS OTHER THAN MONDAY, THERE WILL BE NO TRAINER DEMO, THEREFORE THE REDUCED RATE OF $59.00. We will, however, make up with extra one on one horse time!

Everyone leaves with a surprise souvenir and a heart filled to the max for these formerly neglected or abused horses.

This is a social impact experience where 100% of the proceeds we received for the tour goes to Walkin N Circles Ranch.

Two years ago, with no horse experience at all, I signed up to volunteer at Walkin N Circles Rescue Ranch. I stayed in the background, doing the Monday chores. . Eventually, I timidly pet a few horses, then took classes and was given extra help from the trainers. After a year, I was haltering/walking a few horses. When out of state friends came to visit, I took them to the ranch with me on my volunteer day & then they started scheduling their trips to be sure to be there on Chore Day. It dawned on me what an incredible experience this was for them, and posted an idea on Facebook of creating some sort of a guided tour to raise funds for the ranch and a friend commented: "Create an Airbnb Experience"!
I am joined by co-hosts Linda, Charlie and Rudy, all dedicated WNCR volunteers.

Where you'll be

The ranch sits on about 30 acres of open prairie, surrounded by mountains and incredible views. Walkin N Circles is a down to earth, nothing fancy, real-deal place that has all the necessary equipment. The facilities are kept very clean by volunteers and the horses are extremely well cared for. We just dedicated our brand new ranch office that provides 2 nice bathrooms and a lovely classroom.

This was a unique experience to see what really happens at a horse rescue. It was geared for people with minimal to no horse experience but even those who know horses but just want to see what this rescue does will enjoy. Hands on time with horses (no riding but still up close and personal), personal stories of both equine and human and the friendly welcoming team made this a wonderful morning! Highly recommend to all!

This was a great experience to reawaken my love for horses. The work this ranch and its volunteers are doing is remarkable i truly enjoyed the trainer experience at the end and gained more respect for the wild horses. I highly recommend this experience outside of Albuquerque.

Carol was super welcoming and so were all the workers and volunteers. What they are doing there is absolutely magical. They are the most caring people toward horses and you can tell they truly love being there. They let you become as involved as you want and I highly recommend this experience whether you are brand new to the ranch life or experienced it. A+ to this beautiful place.

Both Carol and Charlie were excellent hosts. We performed a variety of basic chores that are involved with the ranch there at the rescue. Overall it was a very good experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

This was a true New Mexico ranching experience. I would highly recommend it for horse lovers and people who may not know if they are horse lovers. Be prepared to work and get dirty. But you will love it ! The drive out to the ranch is beautiful and the directions were great. I was greeted by Carol and a beautiful horse when I pulled into the parking area. I learned about all the different types of feed they give the horses based on their own individual needs. It's truly a rescue ranch with a big heart! I wish I could have put one of the baby's in my trunk! I enjoyed watching a real cowboy work with horses and what he taught me about their needs, moods and how they are being rehabilitated. The best part was grooming and walking a horse knowing how important it was for them to have that type of care and affection. The ranch office is very nice and they were very accommodating. 5 Stars !! I'll be back next year!

I attended their very first tour and was impressed at how well orchestrated it was. Despite torrential rains the night before, the team of volunteers gave us a seamless experience that included small bits of chores, up close and personal interaction with the horses and a remarkable demonstration from their trainer. I felt it was money well spent.
