What you'll do

Guests will visit a meliponário (stingless bee breeding). First, they will have a brief explanation (20 to 30 minutes) in the shed of the site about native stingless bees, their environmental and economic importance. Then, we will go to the meliponary site (a 100-meter walk along a trail bordered by native and ornamental plants), where guests will meet different species of native stingless bees, learning to differentiate them and understanding their breeding system (30 to 40 minutes). Afterwards, they will have a honey tasting of some of the species present in the place. (10 to 15 minutes). Finally, each guest will plant a seedling of plant species native to the region to collaborate with the restoration of local vegetation and supply of flowers for the bees (10 to 15 minutes).
We hope that guests can learn more about the importance and diversity of bees native to Brazil and understand how they can act in their daily lives to favor their preservation and multiplication.

I am the creator of Sítio Caliandras, located in the Demetria district. Together with my partner, the agronomist Maurice Fabian Scaloppi, we have been conducting various activities of rural experiences, with bees as one of the main pillars of the Site, together with agroecological production, professional training and rural popular culture.
In terms of bees, we offer courses, workshops and visits for various groups, adults and children (schools), focused mainly on environmental education, but also on the production of bee products.
Maurice has been a bee breeder for over 10 years and works professionally as a honey and propolis producer, as well as consulting and technical assistance in the area of beekeeping and meliponiculture.

Uma experiência maravilhosa, liderada por dois anfitriões fantásticos! Eles tinham muito conhecimento para compartilhar com meus filhos, que perguntaram quando podem voltar.
