What you'll do

As soon as you arrive, you will be provided with safety equipment required for the adventure. We will hike through the forest for about an hour and a half observing parts of the Second biggest radio telescope in the world, the Arecibo Observatory, between limestone formations and a unique forest. The hike requires good physical condition. After the trail, we will reach the river full of limestone formations and springs & small waterfalls. Then we hike next to the river giving you the opportunity to relax floating down stream passing natural limestone formations. A new trail will be followed--observing natural sinkholes and other limestone formations. This experience will be unique since you will be far from the beaten path & in full contact with nature. The hike guides you through ancient Taino paths that used to connect the ocean and the mountains. The trekking takes over in the Tanama River in a remote private access giving you the experience that most travelers search when they want an authentic adventure. The view of the Tanama river while you hike through this amazing place will make unforgettable memories. The adventure will be interpreted and a guide we will be with you the entire time. We will also immortalize memories for free with cameras and guide you through the best hike in the island.

I have been an adventure guide since 2005 while working with Aventureo PR. Certified with NCRC , American Health (first aid) and Natural Science at UPR of Puerto Rico. I grew up less than 10 minutes from the forest. My passion for hiking and exploring this limestone wonder guided me through the years to become an adventure guide in the most amazing place in the island, Tanama. I love share the real inside Island. I spent most of my days between the tanama river and farm. Love to travel hopefully one day i will travel every country in the americas . Good vibes

I loved it. Jose and Efrain did an excellent job giving instructions and knowledge in both English and Spanish. They were thoughtful and helpful to every guest on the trip. Something that will keep you warm in the water is recommended. Recommend 100%.

Our experience was incredible! We were running slightly late because of GPS issues and Jose Luis graciously waited for us and was very responsive via text. We highly recommend allowing extra cushion time for getting there on time since you may be going up narrow mountain roads. Jose Luis was knowledgeable about all things relating to the Tanama and a very entertaining story teller. Floating down the river and going into a cave are definitely unforgettable experiences!

I am so grateful I did this! It was one of the best things I did in Puerto Rico and something I will never forget. The views were spectacular, the host was both entertaining and informative as well as very friendly. We got to swim through the river, under waterfalls and into caves. We learned a lot about the history of Puerto Rico and about the terrain. If you are in the area, I recommend that you go. You will not regret it!

The location was beautiful!! This was a totally unique experience. Heed the warnings and instructions he provides when booking online (no matter your experience). You will be in the water a lot. Jose was very informative and professional. He does give a high consideration for safety, so other reviews that complain about cancellations are likely not acknowledging his expertise for the flash flooding and other concerns. Awesome experience and I highly recommend it.
