Animal experience hosted by Tina

3 hours
Includes food, drinks
Up to 10 people
Hosted in English

What you'll do

Welcome refreshments and pastries upon arrival.

Then out to meet the llamas. First, a talk on llamas and their origins, what they eat and drink, the various parts of their bodies and some telltale characteristics that help us understand how the llama is feeling.

Once everyone is comfortable being near the llamas, we will head into the paddocks to actually meet them and give them carrot and parsnip pieces. Up close and personal like this is the best way to actually experience the benefits of being around llamas. Here are the benefits:

For mental health –
 Decreases isolation and depression
 Causes many to feel calm
 Bridges communication gaps
 Provides comfort
 Reduces boredom
 Lowers anxiety and decreases agitation

After spending time with the llamas, it's time for lunch: a traditional cream tea, with sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, strawberries and cakes. Please ensure you let us know of any dietary requirements. The total experience will last approximately 3 hours.

Hi, I am Tina. I own a herd of 9 llamas... three male and six female. I am now a Director on the Board of The British Llama Society, the UK Breed's National Society. I was the editor of its quarterly magazine and I show my llamas at various national agricultural shows. I, therefore, have a lot of knowledge about llamas, their origins, their characters and personalities and how to care for them. I have taken one of my llamas to food and craft fairs, and to a couple of retirement home to meet the residents.

We had a lovely time meeting the chickens, ducks, llamas and Chris was a fantastic and knowledgable host. It was great to learn so much about the llamas. The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful - we’d love to stay overnight sometime soon xxx

As a group with three generations, including teenagers, this experience was fantastic for everyone. We all had fun and learnt plenty too. The cream tea was enormous so we took the left-overs home for dinner! Tina was the perfect host - full of knowledge, passionate about every detail and a great communicator. We would highly recommend this experience and also the amazing the bell tent which she rents out in the field next to the llamas.

It was a unique experience, was a treat to ‘hang out’ so close to llamas 🦙 Tina clearly knows her stuff about Llamas and is passionate about them.

This was a treat for my 50th birthday and I could not have wished for a more charming and memorable event. Tina and team were welcoming and accommodating, especially considering we had our pooch in tow. Spending time with the llamas (and other livestock) was enchanting. Afternoon tea was delicious. There was no rushing at any point in the proceedings, just space and time and fresh air.

We had a lovely time with the Llamas on this experience. The hosts were very welcoming and all the animals were wonderful. We had plenty of time with the Llamas who are very inquisitive and fun to be around, a vaired bunch of characters. The Ducks and Chickens deserve a shout out for being funny to watch too. There were a nice selection of food and drink, place to rest out of the strong wind that we had on the day, and toilet facilities. We would highly recommend the experience and it was great to learn about Llamas.
