This is a fantastic tour! It’s more than just bites to eat and interesting tidbits on San Jose’s history. Rather Erick introduced me to the rich historic past tracing all the way to the indigenous tribes that traveled through the land before there was city. From indigenous peoples cuisines (corn coffee), traditional foods (pineapple skin juice and turtle eggs), to local produce (star fruit, “vi-chi-chu”, “o-Chu-wah”) I really could not have gotten a better introduction to San Jose. He knew all the market vendors, showed me the back door of the markets product production, told me about the current state of the city, and cultural sites like Teatro, post office, and other buildings donated to the city by foreign countries (i.e. Belgium). This trip, I went on another city tour of San Jose and this tour goes above and beyond. If there was a part two I would absolutely go!

So Erick is really offering a different walking experience compared to what you usually get. I really liked the small snacks on the way and the little fun facts. Also Erick is a cool, relaxed guy that you will like to listen too, plus his english is perfect.

It’s certainly a decent introductory tour to San Jose, but it felt like our tour guide wasn’t as engaging as we would have hoped. Much of the tour we walked in silence. Our tour guide was very thoughtful in making sure we had opportunities to rest and gauge our mood throughout the tour. It was also difficult to determine the meeting place on the day off.

I’m vegan and Erick had all the vegan options. Last stop was La Esquina de JM. We stayed longer and had a vegan lunch there too. Great day!
