Where you'll be

Craft Draft Studio is based in Funduk Khrashfiyeen (a hotel built around 1850). It is located by the famous Fes river between the bridges (built around 11th century). The studio was established as Dar Attamania in 1968 by Master Mokhtar El Fasiki (head of the metal-smith guild) and was handed over to his son and apprentice Hamza El Fasiki in 2011. Since then, we have been known as Craft Draft.

This was great. I always love being in artists' studios, so this was a real treat. Hamza guided us through the process that was both simple and complex. I loved trying new things and pushing past my usual way of drawing and seeing. I appreciated learning more about Hamza and how he lives, works and makes art. How and where we live play such a vital role in our creative work, so it was cool to see how Hamza has integrated his art and his life. I also loved the guitar music! I learned a lot about Morocco that served me every day on the rest of my trip. I would do this again and highly recommend it to others.

In a country so full of artwork from master craftsmen, it is remarkable to get to see and experience a small piece of the traditional crafts. Hamza was warm and welcoming, clearly passionate about learning and passing on the history and skills of Moroccan craft. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to dig into Morocco’s art culture.

This was the highlight of my trip to Fez! I had a spectacular time with Hamza in the workshop learning about the history of craftspeople in Fes and trying my hand at making a copper bowl. Hamza provides excellent instruction and makes it easy to follow and fun. If you want to experience the rich culture of Fes first hand this is the experience for you . Plus you get a unique and beautiful handmade souvenir to take home! 10/10
