Experience hosted by Shinsuke

What you'll do

We will meet at my dojo (judo hall) which is only 20 minutes train ride from Shibuya station.

First, we will start off with a short lecture of judo. It is important for you to understand the spirit behind this amazing sport.
After that, we will put on the judogi (judo uniform) and obi (belt). Then we learn the basic etiquette of judo. We respect our opponents by bowing before and after the game.

Now we are set to start our practice:
1) Warm-up exercise
2) Ukemi - Falling technique
3) Tachiwaza - Upright, grappling and throwing
4) Newaza - Ground work
5) Cool Down

During the practice, we will take pictures/video of you for memories to take back home!
And for the experienced people, we will do Randori together.

I also have KIDS PROGRAMS for children over 5 years old. There are classes 5 days a week. If you are interested, please contact me. This is a great way to make friends kids their own ages.
Other things to note
We welcome beginners to experienced!
Either you want to sweat and get a nice work out during your trip or just want to explore this Japan-born martial arts, we will work accordingly.

I've been playing judo since 9 years old and teaching judo to kids and adults for over 13 years. I recently built a brand new dojo, Setagaya Judo Club, in the heart of Tokyo.
Judo not only teaches the efficiency in the execution of techniques but a route of self-improvement and the betterment of society in general. I hope my students become a better person from learning judo.
It is my honor and passion to introduce people from all over the world, the great sport of Judo!

Step into a beautiful dojo to experience a unique and once in a lifetime training session. Shinsuke sensei and his students taught me techniques that I had always watched and wanted to learn but couldn’t on my own. If you’re a martial artist who wants to learn a new discipline or just want a really good workout in a Japanese-born martial art, this experience is for you. Highly recommended.

Shinsuke, Yasu and June were very welcoming and made it feel really comfortable for me to train with them. It was nice to see how the kids trained on a daily basis and be involved in their session. Had a nice randori with a few of them and of course got to randori with Shinsuke himself, which was tough. Shinsuke and Yasu were very knowledgeable and helped me a lot with improving my tachiwaza and newaza techniques. June was also very insightful and a great translator! I would recommend this experience to people of all levels since they accomodate to whatever level you are.

A great overall experience, Sensei Shinsuke was very knowledgeable and helped me refine and work on several ne waza and te waza techniques. I found him and his wife to be very helpful overall and even pointed out things and places to visit along with my stay in Japan.

I had THE best time here. This experience went far beyond my expectations and we left feeling like we had made new friends. My younger brothers went with me and loved it. They now want to see if they can pursue judo back home too. This judo experience was so special and I would recommend everyone to try it.

I had a great time doing this experience. Shinsuke and all the class took good care of me, they crafted the whole class around my knowledge and taste and I even got some insights to improve my (terrible) tachi-waza.

Judo experience by Sensei Shinsuke was one of the most fabulous and memorable moments for my trip in Japan. Sensei Shinsuke is skillful and generous. He gave me to understand Judo comprehensively. Moreover, the place is new and beautiful. The class atmosphere was friendly and fun. I would highly recommend this experience for those looking for a chance to learn about Japanese martial arts and cultures. Even though you are a Judo beginner, it is not a problem you can still enjoy this experience if you want to know about Judo. Of course, if I have a chance to revisit Japan, I will join this Judo class again. 😊😊
