Half Dome with Airbnb was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever done. After hiking earlier this year in Central and South America, seeing the US through a local's perspective was truly amazing. Our guides were insanely knowledgeable about the John Muir Trail, Mist trail, and into Half Dome.
Our multi-day excursion included end-to-end support from the guides. Of course, climbing the cables was the highlight, as the view is stunning from the top. But more importantly, it was the climb to sub dome from glacier point (starting point) and after 3 days in the wilderness. Our personal abilities to keep the strength to push ourselves during these final stages of the trip was inspiring. We had a couple in their mid-60's who were bad*ss and almost life coaches who magically found us during this time in our lives. See their confidence and strength empowered me to continue on.
We had a group of 10 in total, 2 guides included. They coached us every step of the way, some needing more support than others, and ultimately as a team, we all made it up and down half dome safely. Folks were crying tears of joy up and down the cables as it truly is an astonishing feeling of accomplishment.
They took care of our food – some good old backcountry food was delicious. We had plenty to eat and in the morning coffffeeeeeeee. This was such a delight especially with the early sunrise hikes.
One of best experience of my life thus far. Thank you Airbnb and SYMG!
