What you'll do

Whether you call them pubs, taverns, brown cafes or simply watering holes, there are several of them in Amsterdam that are decades or even centuries old. No one seems to agree on the exact time, but many say, some date all the way back to the 15th century. Amazing, right?
We will visit 4 of these pubs, and enjoy a cold beer or a famous, traditional Dutch drink while learning about the history of these amazing spots, that still have the decoration and charm of the Dutch Golden Age.
Besides these unique places with incredible stories, you'll get the chance to have a top notch city tour too. During our walk we will pass by some of the most famous sights in the city such as Dam Square, Anne Frank house, Red light district,Old Church, New Church, Chinatown and end in the famous Jordaan area.
Amsterdam's history is fascinating, rich with world-famous stories ready to be told, and what's the best way to hear them than enjoying a good drink, and meeting like minded people.
We will meet at the St. Nicholas Basilica and walk in total about 2.5 km with the occasional stops and end the tour in Jordaan, another central area of Amsterdam. From here it's easy to continue your journey or stick around for another drink and enjoy the sunshine sitting around the canals as locals do.
3 beers, 1 traditional Dutch drink and all the amazing stories and history are included in the price.

Where you'll be

The old taverns of Amsterdam have a unique atmosphere. They are small, cozy and quirky, where the walls, old decoration, bottles and well fitting bar keepers all tell a story. In most cases there is barely a place to sit and everyone just hangs around the front porch enjoying their drinks and conversations. One can chat with the regulars, who fit perfectly into the picturesque image of these century old places.
