Punta Uva, Costa Rica

Experience hosted by David Umaña

3 hours, Hosted in English

What you'll do

We will meet at our bamboo jungle rancho in Punta Uva where we will take a walk through the garden and get to know the local plants. Here you can change and securely park your car or bicycle and get ready for the adventure. We will walk 3 minutes down the road to the Punta Uva River where we will set you up in the kayaks and start our river tour. We will paddle up the river into the jungle and see a variety of local wildlife which could include turtles, up to 3 different types of monkeys, sloths, toucans, iguanas and more. After about 40 minutes on the river, we paddle the kayaks to Punta Uva beach where the river meets the sea. We will park the kayaks and walk down the beach to take a 30 minute round trip hike through primary forest on the bluff out to Punta Uva point. There we will check out the view of the sea from above and walk on around the point to Arrecife Beach. After a little break to enjoy the tropical beach, we will stroll back to the kayaks and paddle a few minutes up the river back to the dock. After the adventure, we will walk back to the garden rancho for a tropical fruit and fresh pipa snack before saying our goodbyes.

This experience was everything I imagined and more! Our guide Mike is such a phenomenal human and he has so much passion to share. It felt like an old friend was showing us around. Totally worth the cost and would absolutely recommend to anyone!

I couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilling tour. Mike has such a deep knowledge of the land, giving us fruits, leaves, and spices to try from his property while guiding us through the river and ultimately out the sea for some incredible views. I believe any fitness level can do this, and I highly recommend anyone who appreciates nature and a little bit of adventure check this out. Who knows, you may even leave with a friend in Mike!

What an amazing tour! We learned so much about the indigenous people and plants, and saw so many monkeys, turtles, and birds-including a toucan and a juvenile hawk learning to hunt! The views from the hike were beautiful too! David is so knowledgeable! It was by far our favorite part of the trip!
