What you'll do

Lacrosse reigns supreme in the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, home to some lacrosse legends. Here, lacrosse is not just a game, it is an ancient Haudenosaunee, also known as Iroquois, tradition dating back centuries. Join us on a tour of lacrosse stick making and its Indigenous origins with Akwesasne Mohawk Evan Cree, owner of Traditional Lacrosse. Evan’s great grandfather made lacrosse sticks and started a company that would be the largest manufacturer of wooden lacrosse sticks in the world. Years later, Evan picked up the family business and started his own factory.

Coming to you live from his factory, Evan will share with you a bit about his home, the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, where lacrosse games are as important as football games in other places. After a bit of history, Evan will then take you on a behind the scenes tour of his lacrosse stick factory, which blends traditional lacrosse stick making with modern techniques. Evan will take you through the entire process of creating a lacrosse stick from a rough piece of wood to a curved, shiny stick ready for action. Guests will also see live demonstrations of various stages of stick production
