What you'll do

Discover the mountain at an altitude of 2000 meters! After an ascent by cable car to quickly gain the heights. The alpine space is very particular fauna and flora specific, it is a real explosion of colors and diversity which is then offered to you. We will walk towards a pass, we will all have the leisure to contemplate this universe which amazes me each time. Finally we will observe the ibex, lords of the mountains. After a moment of observation and photos to immortalize his unique moments. We then retrace our steps to descend by the cable car.

I have been a Guide for over 20 years (in France and Canada, USA, Africa ...), nature and mountain lover and I like to share it with you. I know perfectly the territory that I have been practicing for 15 years and that I would be pleased to make you discover. I supervise mountain outings winter and summer, my pleasure to make you discover seems communicative since my "summer outings" are rated 4.9 / 5. I suggest you take you safely on a snowshoe outing to reconnect with nature, discover beautiful places and landscapes, the little corners of the Vercors have no secrets for me so let's share them :)

This opportunity finally got me out of my usual daily routine in Grenoble and introduced me to a new place and new way to hike in the mountains in France. The hike was invigorating but not overly tiring if you're used to mountain hiking. Bring water, prepare for all kinds of weather, and wear good shoes. The path is rocky and crumbly in most parts (and thus can be slippery), but is not too difficult to negotiate. We spotted and heard the cries of a few marmots, identified a few local flowers, and learned a good bit about the natural forces that have given the mountains and valleys of the area their particular form and appearance. Although Vincent usually gives his commentary in English for non-native speakers of French, he kindly agreed to stick to French for this hike, so I got some very welcome and useful practice in French listening and speaking. He's articulate and clear, and I was happily able to follow pretty much everything he said. Vincent's dog is one of the most well-behaved and sociable dogs I've met. If you're in Grenoble, take the 5100 bus from the gare routière (bus station) part of the train station. Take the first bus of the morning, which currently leaves at 7:40am. The fare is €5.90 at the time of this writing. You need to buy your ticket the same day that you travel, and the ticket office opens at 7am. Vincent picked me up from the Villard-de-Lans bus station, the last stop of the trip. Make sure you have €7.00 ready for the round-trip ride in the télécabine to the starting point of the hike. I was lucky to get a ride back to Grenoble with the other hiker who joined us. Before heading back, we had a great impromptu language exchange as we explored the village, had a nice crèpe lunch, and did a bit of shopping. We recommend André Nicolas' Poterie des cochettes shop, 38250 Villard-de-Lans. In short: Enjoyable, worthwhile, highly recommended.
