What you'll do

You will meet me in the heart of the Jewish Quarter at Bike & Relax next to the small Cafe "Hivatal" in Madach Imre street 12. I will show you "my" Budapest, it's history and my own experiences. Learn about the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Queen Sissy, the freedom fighters & Revolutionaries. You will ride on Andrássy Avenue pass the Opera, the House of Terror and hear about the dark side of Hungarian History. The famous Boulevard ends at the Hero's Square, a a symbol of 1000 years of history, but the tour has just started. Did you know that Budapest houses approx. 140 thermal wells ? One of them is used in Szechenyi Spa, the largest historical Spa in the City Park. On the way you stop at a "Fake" Castle, which became real. Returning to Downtown you pass the Jewish Quarter and at Stephen's Basilica I will share the secret of the "Holy Right" with you. Cross with me the Financial District and meet former US President Ronald Reagan on Liberty Square and behind him the stunning Parliament. Ride along the Danube Bank on a convenient bicycle path. Discover Buda, the Chain Bridge and Castle Garden before returning to Pest, to the Grand Market Hall the Great Synagogue and back to Andrassy Ave. Check also for our afternoon-tour "Adventure Off the beaten tracks" !
Other things to note
You shall be able to ride a bike, but it is not a racing event. Take it easy. We are going on dedicated bike lanes or small roads with little traffic. There is enough time for pics.

Hi, I am Thomas and will guide this tour. I have a degree in business administration and working experience in different fields & countries. I am Austrian, docent at the West-Hungarian University and living long time in Budapest. After being enthusiastic traveller myself I decided to offer programs for guests who want to see and know a bit more of Budapest & Hungary. I am also operating the company "Bike & Relax", offering bicycle tours, like for example between Vienna and Budapest. I would like to share my knowledge and my passion for bicycles. You will use high quality Austrian KTM-Cross or Trekking-bicycles and I show you the best places. Please check also the offer "Budapest Bike Tour with an Insider" and "Buda Hills with Cograilway and Bicycles".

Thomas was very welcoming with us and has outstanding storytelling skills. He brought us to visit both sides of the Danube and explained the history behind buildings and monuments. I recommend this experience to anyone that wants to do something uniquely beautiful. I did it on my first day in Budapest in order to have a basic understanding of the city, now I feel more confident about visiting the city by foot. The bikes are OK, comfortable enough for a few-hour ride.
