This was hands down one of the greatest experiences I’ve had here. I highly recommend to anyone with an interest to learn how to cook authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine. Hosts were absolutely fantastic!

Ruth was my "personal chef" 👩‍🍳 for the class; she was warm & welcoming and we shared a lot of stories together. I was totally involved in the cooking process: chopping, measuring, mixing, etc. (I've been to other cooking classes where my participation was limited to watching and eating). During the waiting time we shared stories and a margarita, then the best part - eating the delicious food that was prepared. I left with leftovers, a couple of recommendations for local restaurants and the recipes! All in all a highly recommended experience!

My husband and I really enjoyed both Chef Axel and Chef Ruth. They were warm, friendly, considerate, informative and made us feel welcomed. We spent over 3 hours with them; they made it comfortable and easy. At our request, they changed the menu offering to include cantaloupe mole which was amazing; so full of flavors. And probably more labor intensive for them than other options. We will definitely make this at home; we loved it! We also made tortillas, roasted poblano & cream tacos, and the avocado cheesecake. All good! Learning how to taste mezcal and a different recipe for margaritas added to the fun. I enjoyed the hibiscus (non-alcoholic) drink as well - very refreshing. Axel and Ruth's enthusiasm for their craft and openness in sharing their backgrounds and culture gave us an experience we haven't had elsewhere; much appreciated. As was the generous sharing of recipes and suggestions for the area, really nice to have those take-aways. Highly recommend this experience.

My husband and I picked this class to learn more about Mexican cooking, and particularly to learn to make tortillas! It more than met our expectations. We were able to ask lots of questions, help with the work to get a feel for how it is done, and we both really enjoyed the meal. We also enjoyed visiting with our hosts, and swapping stories about food and cooking of different cultures. I would not hesitate to recommend this activity to anyone.

We had a blast!  We learned how to make hand made tortillas, salsas, al pastor, and an avocado tart.  We learned how to reconstitute chili peppers and specifics about chilis.  I would recommend this experience to anyone going to San Jose!
