About your host

I'm a tango dancer, certified teacher, and researcher on sociology of music and dance/movement therapy. My immersion into this world allowed me to understand that tango is not just a dance, but a way of life. My approach to tango combined my personal experience as an insider with my knowledge about its history and social implications to create the Tango Immersion project, where travelers can…

What we’ll do

Discover the real tango: Learn about its secrets, and live it as a local dancing at an authentic Milonga. The experience has two parts. First we have a lesson at my studio (very central and easy to get by public transportation). You'll learn the basics of tango and some tips to feel comfortable if it is your first tango experience. Then we'll go to a local milonga (most of the times with live…

What else you should know

Some milongas charge an entrance fee (Not included / As an average it's 200 pesos - US$5). I'll be on tour from June to Sept, my colleagues will host the experience during those dates.

What I’ll provide

Tickets
Tango Lesson & Guiding Extras (not included, book in advance): Taxi dancers (professional tango dancers as exclusive partners), and private lessons.
Transportation
Transportation to Milonga When the Milonga is not at a walking distance from the studio, it includes public transportation / taxi to the Milonga.

What to bring

Come with comfortable shoes (preferably smooth soled and well tied to your ankle).
The milonga we'll go doesn't have a dressing code. I suggest to dress casual.
Some milongas charge an entrance fee or pass a hat for the musicians. This is not included in the price of the experience (in average it's not more than 200 pesos / US$5). Feel free to ask about your dates.
Most milongas don't accept cards. I suggest to bring cash for the entrance, food or drinks.

Where you'll be

You'll have a personalized lesson before we go to a Milonga (it's the name for places where locals dance Tango. We go to a different one each day). The importance of this places is their authenticity and the social implications they have for Argentinians and foreigners related to Tango. You will learn the subtle secrets of this dance and why it molds so many people's identities, while discovering it on first hand participating in the Milonga.
