I really enjoyed my Sashiki class. It was great to be able to chose my own project and color thread. Keiko taught me some great tricks to make my Sashiki piece more beautiful.

Keiko is sweet and a lovey person, and a patient teacher! The sashiko lesson takes place in her shop, which shows off the charm and her love of handicrafts and beautiful things, and really is a calming space. Keiko helped me get started and guided me to finish two edges of the border before time was up (it passes quickly!) and we had great conversation all the while. Afterwards, Keiko helped me pick some suitable sashiko patterns for me to try when I went home. I look forward to coming back for an advanced workshop when next in Japan!

I loved this sashiko experience so much! I have been working on my piece since I left and I feel like I have a new meditative craft I will do every day. Keiko was so kind and gave me many tips that have made my embroidery easy to pick up even after leaving the lesson. On top of the wonderful instruction and great materials, Keiko made the experience so personal when she gifted me a pattern after I told her it was my birthday! All in all it was such a unique and personal experience. I could have spent the whole day in her peaceful shop stitching away.

Keiko-san is a wonderful teacher. She is so kind and hospitable. I have been looking for a place to learn Sashiko for many months. It is extremely difficult to find someone willing to teach it in the English language. I am extremely grateful that Keiko is willing to teach Sashiko in English and to share this amazing knowledge with the non-Japanese people. She welcomes all sorts of questions (Sashiko and non-Sashiko related) and is happy to share all the knowledge she has. This is one of the best souvenirs you could get for yourself during your time travelling or living in Tokyo. Domo arigato gozaimashita, Keiko-san. :)

This workshop was great for a beginner like me to get started! Keiko let us choose our own sample design and walked us through the steps - folding the edges, basting, starting and ending rows of stitches, and directionality of designs. Now I have the confidence both to finish my sampler on my own, and to know what to look for in selecting a new sampler kit. She was very welcoming and helpful, and showed many examples of finished samplers.

Keiko is a warm and knowledgeable host—and her shop is so cute! There were two other guests the day I booked the sashiko workshop, we were all English-speaking. Keiko did a lovely job of communicating this beautiful embroidery technique and making sure no one felt left behind in her instructions! Afterwards she gave us wonderful advice and recommended resources for continuing this art. Thank you Keiko!
