What you'll do

Welcome to The Boulder/Denver Blind Cafe Experience, an award winning positive social impact evening!

You must sign the liability waiver at theblindcafe.com/liabilitywaiver in order to participate in this experience.

In this experience, you will be challenged to socially engage as you break bread with strangers, participate in a discussion with our legally Blind Ambassadors + featured musical artists, and experience an intimate music concert in the dark showcase. There will be no distraction of your visual conditioning, social etiquette, or cell phones. The Blind Café does not try to perfectly recreate blindness. Instead, it allows people to interact, trust each other, and experience music and community in an entirely new way. In the dark, there are no uncomfortable glances, no self-consciousness about what you’re wearing or what you weigh, and no distinction between the sighted and the blind.

Fixed Menu, Dark Chocolate Tasting, Social Impact Q&A & Live Concert in the dark!

Please be advised that you will be in 100% darkness for about 1.5 - 2 hours. 100% darkness means you won't be able to see your hand in front of your face and it can be very easy to become disorientated. But don't be discouraged! We’re excited to share this most moving and powerful experience in the dark with you.

This experience was heart-molding for me, in the best way. I would recommend this to everyone as a way to get in tune with yourself, unplug, make friends, and grow your empathy. Humanity is extraordinary. Thank you, Blind Cafe.

Buyer beware. Price way too high for the experience. The only thing they delivered on was that you will be in total darkness and there would be music (which was actually quite good). However, the "food" was not a dining experience. Plastic plate, cups and silverware. If you like overcooked broccoli mush then you won't be disappointed. The whole meal was flavorless and not palate appealing. When the "lights" come on and you see how overcrowded the room is you will be shocked. In my opinion, quite a safety hazard. It was interesting to learn how much one doesn't use their other senses to experience the world and to learn the difficulties of the blind world; however the total experience versus the price leaves you feeling taken advantage of.

Interesting experience. The music was beautiful and moving. The food wasn't very good but I didn't go for the food and it was to be expected since it had to be made in large quantities although the salad was delicious. We really enjoyed the blind ambassadors and learning more about them and hearing one of them sing. Being in the dark and fumbling safely in the dark to sit was challenging for a moment. I enjoyed immersing myself in the experience without sight. Overall really neat experience but you have to go in with an open mind.

I loved everything about this experience; the darkness, the glimpse into the world of blindness, the food, the music and entering the unknown together.

Overall a wonderful experience. The food was good. One little item, with the meal being gluten free I made an assumption that everything in the lobby (chocolate) was gluten free. This wasn't the case so I was exposed to gluten. There may have been a sign, but with the low lighting this wasn't possible to read. I really appreciate that the meal was safe to eat. Perhaps just a little extra step in this regard to make it safe all the way through. Thank you.

What can I say? The food was great, Rosh is a sweetheart, the waiters were awesome, witty and fun. I love getting to ask blind people about their experience. I love the dark, the intimacy, and I love bringing new friends so I can blow their minds too. Two thumbs up!
