What you'll do

Start your day with a sacred journey! We'll walk from 400m to 1000m. We’ll hike passing 2 temples “Wat Pha Lat” (왓파랏) and “Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep” (왓 프라탓 도이수텝) the most revered temple that contains Buddha relics. Don’t worry about walking back as a car will be provided to bring us down. 5:30 AM meet me at the foothill. We’ll walk in the same trail where monks and Buddhists did decades ago and it shows how tough and dedicated they are. The trail split into 2 parts, The first walk started in the dark and it is a 35 mins pleasant walk. We may meet a monk who walks down from their monastery. Then, we’ll reach a first temple Wat Pha Lat a beautiful hidden gem in the middle of the forest. It’s a time for a break, learning a Buddhism story and enjoy a serene sunrise. After that, a real hike begins! A second part is a much more challenge, 55 mins hike mostly uphill. We'll see a small waterfall and a different personal side of Chiang Mai. At the end of the trail, We'll reach the main road near the second temple, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. There will be free time for you to explore the area on your own and take a break at the gorgeous viewpoints. I'll stay outside and arrange transportation to get us down to the foothill and drop you at Nimman Rd. Note:During May-Sep, it's a raining season so you may not see the sunrise as it cloudy but the forest scenery is spacial with a mist & fog.

Your hosts

"The mountain are calling" I and my wife, On, move back to Chiang Mai. When I was young, I study at Bangkok Christian College and ask myself which religion am I will follow. Finally, I decided to become a monk for periods of time. I also love hiking and visit the Himalayas area like Nepal, Leh, Sikkim, India including places of pilgrimage and Sri Lanka that expanded my view of Buddhism. This experience is great for everyone who is looking for an outdoorsy activity in the city area and the history behind the trail. We are so excited to meet you, let's walk together!
