We have been living in the area for more than 16 years, originally from Mexico City. We are lovers of the Caribbean Sea, water activities, and nature. We are participants of the Sacred Mayan Journey by Canoe, an ancestral event to worship the goddess Ixchel. It is a journey that requires intensive physical and mental preparation to be able to row 36 km to the Island of Cozumel. We like to share this place with guests and offer memorable and unique experiences

Where you'll be

The experience starts from our campsite located next to the beach, a private place full of vegetation that we love to share with our friends and visitors, it is an unusual place and one of the most pristine places in Playa del Carmen. Since we want to keep it that way, for that reason the whole environment is very natural and made with materials of the region with a totally ethnic and Playense style.

We had a few bumps in the road for our trip, even though we had a great time. When we got there we had a very nice guide come out and let us know that he was not normally the one who did the kayaking trips, but he would be taking us out today. We got in the kayaks and went out to a buoy to rope off at where we would do the snorkeling. We got there and jumped in the water, my tube had a leak in it and he did not have any others with him so he had to row back and get it, which was totally fine because we just snorkeled without my snorkel till he got back. Then when he get back we did some really great snorkeling and had a good time, although when we started to swim back to the kayaks, the guides kayak was gone and our oars were on his kayak. The kayak had floated away to the beach and he had to swim to shore to get it and row back to us, this took close to an hour, so we were sitting out there on a kayak without paddles until he was able to get back. All of the guides were very kind and the fruit breakfast was very yummy. We had a fun time but the trip definitely did not go according to plan.

Our guide was extremely helpful and fun to snorkel with! The reef was breathtaking, the location of the hut is peaceful and serene, and the fruit was so refreshing after. Roy was great to talk to about the area as well. Overall we are so happy we decided to do this!

This was a somewhat unexpected but delightful experience for both of us. The kayak portion was a bit delayed due to a recent leak in one of their kayaks, but our guide was very friendly and showed us around the living commune area a few folks have turned a former hotel into. This place was very interesting and all the residents (temporary volunteers) work four hours or so a day, either chores like maintenance, water gathering, or in our case, a guide! We forget his name but he was very nice and funny, he offered a stand up paddle board for us, but we preferred to wait since it was very windy, and we knew that would be more difficult than we wanted. We made our way out after a bit and it was beautiful! saw a lot of fish and the coral reef, they let us snorkel to our content and we had some fruit back on the beach. All in all a great experience, with the one possible FYI that timing is potentially a little more flexible. But it’s a beautiful beach and they also help people learn how to kite surf, so that was very entertaining to watch, and it’s a beach with a lot less people than the popular drags.
