My name is Ivica, and I am a journalist, blogger, and a licensed tour guide. I was born and raised in Split, Croatia. I like to discover different layers of history of Split, and almost 2,000 years of Jewish presence in this area is one of the most fascinating. Although not of Jewish origins, I was always interested in this community's contribution to Split and its heritage. Also, one member of my broader family was awarded as the Righteous Among the Nations.
COVID-19 guideline: This tour is for smaller groups, families, or individuals. That makes them very safe in terms of distancing, and easier to control. Face masks are not mandatory in Croatia, but I usually wear it, especially indoor, as well as using hand disinfectant and avoiding physical contact with guests. Knowing Split allows me to avoid bigger crowds.

Ivica did an amazing job sharing the Jewish history of Split. Touring the old town and cemetery on Marjan Hill; including introductions to a charming member of the synagogue. Ivica’s knowledge and love for the city was evident. The pace and content was perfect. I’d highly recommend!

This walking tour highlighting Jewish history in Split was very interesting. Ivica did a fabulous job of layering a brief tour of parts of the Diocletian palace architecture into the Jewish presence in the city and country historically. A highlight was the visit to the local synagogue & interaction with a charming & funny local resident there. Though we’d been in Split a week, Ivica pointed out new highlights we’d missed. The walk to the cemetery on Marjhan hill through historic neighborhood, was enjoyable. Ivica’s local & historical knowledge & insights were so worth the time spent. Ivica is a wonderful tour guide- well informed, a great storyteller & just a nice person to spend the day with & give you a different perspective on the town he’s grown up in. Definitely a great value.

This is a very interesting tour. Ivica was also able to adjust it as I hadn't already done a separate walking tour so I got a Split history as well as the Jewish context. Good pace and lots of information, well told

Ivica is very personable, friendly and knowledgeable guide. He shared a lot of interesting information, showed us places and views that we would miss without him. He loves his city and brings you to like it as well. I would absolutely recommend tour with Ivica.

Ivica did a great job tailoring the tour to our interests, taking the time to answer our questions and to give us extra information that we appreciated. He was very knowledgeable about history, and we got an excellent tour of Diocletian's palace as well as the history of Jews in Split. At the synagogue Ivica introduced us to an entertaining elder member of the Jewish community who gave us additional insight into Jewish Split. Although the old Jewish cemetery was closed the week of our tour, he led us to the cemetery gate on Marjan hill and took advantage of the view to explain what happened to Jews at Fort Gripe and point out other sights. He left us with personalized recommendations for what we would enjoy seeing the rest of our time in Split. We're so glad we took Ivica's tour!

Ivica was wonderful to get to know Split and the Jewish experience with. We went to the third oldest synagogue in Europe and got to meet Albert who was and is a party of the Jewish history here. Ibiza’s English was perfect and he knew how to explain things well. We walked and talked.
