What you'll do

Different to the Graffiti Tour, we'll experience a mix of nature and history on this transformational tour in infamous Comuna 13, Medellin (previously the most dangerous neighbourhood in the world).

You'll meet a guide at the Metro station and get the bus to the first stop of the Tour: The Eco Park. You'll hear about the history of the park which is a locally-led social business donating 50% of profits to community projects.

We'll start hiking up the mountain hearing about the history of these mountains, how armed groups were in control of the area just a few years ago and now we have a tourist attraction and community area.

We'll learn why the 2nd largest mass grave in Latin America is here and visit the Memorial of the missing people who were never found from many years of war in the area.

After, we'll visit a house which is steeped in history of violence, torture and learn how it transformed just like the whole neighbourhood.

We finish at one of the best viewpoints of the city, above Comuna 13.
(Hike is Level 1)

We'll then walk back down to the Eco Park for lunch, swim in the natural pools, play volleyball with locals, visit the mini-farm and enjoying an afternoon relaxing in the mountains.

We'll leave the Park at 3:30pm and take the bus to San Javier Metro Station (where we started).

50% of all profits go towards social projects

Meet your host, Damon

Hi, I'm Damon from the UK and I'm a volunteer football coach to the kids for a foundation here in Comuna 13. The founders of the foundation are the founders of the EcoPark Comuna 13 and I'm helping them with marketing, and bringing tourists. I've been here for nearly 2 years. The tour is done by a local, however I'll be the 'host' where I'll meet you at San Javier Metro Station, and bring you to the park, organise the tours, show you around, organise your lunch, and bring you back to the metro station in the afternoon. I don't get paid, and all of the tours I do are given straight to the local people who manage the finances of which 50% of our profits are for social projects like the football school where I teach. I love the kids and I want to create a great experience for people so that we can improve the opportunities for these kids!
