What you'll do

This experience is perfect for families and beginner kayakers that want to enjoy some time on calm waters. This is a self-guided experience, which gives the guests autonomy on the pace they want to explore the lake.

Grab your binoculars, camera, or a fishing pole and get ready to explore the beautiful, 25-acre Whitney Lake nestled in Johns Island. Plenty of birds, fish, turtles and other wildlife will no doubt make an appearance.

Watch birds like the snowy egret, white ibis, little blue heron, wood duck, gulls, hawks and more! The local mockingbirds will provide song for your paddling pleasure, and you may even catch a glimpse of a busy hummingbird as you enjoy the gentle breeze and breathtaking sunset on this private, protected waterbody.

You can park in the large grass area behind Malope Alley at the intersection with Foxglove Ln. After you park, walk down Foxglove Ln and you will see the lake across the street and the wooden dock to your right. We will meet at the dock.

Once we were greeted the time on the lake was wonderful. Beautiful birds and views. Amal was very gracious and accommodating, highly recommended.

Didn’t look at the description in detail and thought the lake was much bigger and thought based on the description there would be more wildlife than a couple of fish. Host is friendly though and neighborhood is pretty, would probably be worth the price it was about a fourth of what it was in my opinion.

This is a neighborhood ‘lake’ encircled by houses, more like a large pond. There is one single kayak and a double kayak, when we got there they were pulled out and one was dirty. I would only recommend this for an adult or two with a younger child, if you want a lazy afternoon slowly kayaking around. We did see a couple birds and a turtle.

Ates was a pleasant host. The lake was beautiful and quiet. We saw many turtles and it was an easy level experience! Thank you

This excursion is an unguided kayaking excursion in a small neighborhood lake. There were no drinks and I was unable to reach the host at the end of my experience. I guess, as a new person to SC, I thought I was going to learn something about Kayaking in the area and about the wildlife. I would recommend this for families with children who are new to kayaking.

Ates and Lisa were wonderful hosts! We had never been kayaking before so it was a new experience but Ates and Lisa were very warm and hospitable and put us at ease. The location was gorgeous and made the experience even more tranquil.
