What you'll do

Recreational tree climbing, also known as canopy climbing, is an unforgettable experience and a fast-growing sport. The activity level for this activity is between low-extreme based on the equipment and tree participants choose to climb. We have battery power ascenders for people who find the manual foot/hand ascenders too difficult or have a physical disability.

This unique adventure gives a sense of freedom, power and connectivity to nature like nothing else.

Our itinerary will consist of:
1) Meeting and introducing ourselves
2) Signing a liability waiver
3) Listening to a safety talk and gear overview
4) Participating in a climbing techniques tutorial
5) Getting geared-up and checked by your guide
6) Completing a practice climb on our demo tree
7) Walking to the more secluded climbing trees
8) Climbing on multiple trees, between 150 and 300 feet high in Deception Pass State Park. Depending on the group and the climbers' ability, you will ascend one or two trees. Climbing 20 stories up coastal Douglas fir trees offers a stunning perspective few have ever seen. A guide will be climbing with the group the entire time.
9) Enjoying the view, eating a snack, and drinking water (please bring)
10) Descending the tree using an automatic belay device
11) Smiling and giving high-fives

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time climbing with Leo! We hadn’t done anything like this before and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but everything felt incredibly safe and we left with so much more knowledge of the sport and the environment it takes place in. Leo is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, no matter what your skill level. His patience and willingness to help each of us individually was really appreciated and made for an epic experience that we won’t soon forget.

We had a great unique experience climbing couple of giant trees. Matt talked about how they select the trees and a bit of background into canopy climbing. I highly recommend this experience. I wish this experience will help connect more people with these giant trees and care for them :)

Incredible experience! Matt had a wealth of knowledge about everything about the area, and was a great teacher and support system while we were up there. Its a little physically challenging, I would say similar to walking briskly up a very long flight of stairs, so keep that in mind.

Very fun! If you're out of shape be prepared to be sore but its still doable and very worth the climb. We had a ton of fun and would highly revommend the activity.

Matt was a great guide and was very patient while we learned the technique. In a situation that was easy to be stressed or nervous, Matt’s cool and calm demeanor kept tensions low. We had a fantastic time doing something many people never have the chance to do! Highly recommend this experience!
