I loved this class!! Hazel took us thru the neighborhood market , which was fabulous!! Bring Chinese money if you are at all interested in purchasing any chili etc. I also purchased some dried Hawthorns (Red Dates- received a small packet on the plane and they are delicious!) The market was the kind I never would have experienced without her!! She also stopped by a dumpling place where we all tried the folding. That was sooo much fun!! After market, we went back to her wonderful little cooking school. Had some tea and chatted. Then started the hands on cooking! Learned how to slice with a large large knife. Loved that knife. Made slicing so easy. Her partner was a fabulous chef. Just the kind I like! Measuring wasn’t precise, but we did measure. We cooked in the wok and just learn lots of little tricks. I would take this class again. In the end so much to eat and yummy!!! Thanks to Hazel and her wonderful chef!!!

My husband and I came to Chengdu mainly because of our love of Sichuan food and taking a cooking class was high on our list of things we wanted to do while in the city. After researching and reading all the positive reviews on both Trip Advisor and Air bnb we decided to book the Chilli Cool half day 3 dish cooking class, and it was even more amazing than we could’ve imagined. We ended up booking a private class because we wanted to be able to choose what dishes we cooked, in particular wanting to learn to make our favorite dishes (fish flavor shredded pork, water boiled beef, spicy garlic eggplant). Lance was our guide, and he’s so personable and knowledgeable. He first picked us up from our hotel and then took us to the spice market and then the cooking class kitchen. It was all so convenient. We loved getting to fully experience the market and try fresh spring rolls and even make local dumplings! The cooking class was just as amazing! A wonderful hand on experience and a ton of food. It remains our favorite meal in Chengdu. Lance even helped us take photos during the whole class to document the experience. Highly recommend the cooking class and having Lance as your guide!
