What you'll do

First, Mark E. Sackett the owner, will welcome you to the Pressroom and Mercantile here at The Box SF, where you will step back in time absorbing our recreation of an 1850's General Store and working Letterpress Printing Shop, where our oldest Press dates back to 1838! You'll get to see amazing Design and Advertising History, learn a bit about our historic Printing Presses. Then we'll head to our basement for a quick tour of our hidden private Speakeasy! You'll have an opportunity to browse millions of pieces of rare ephemera, billheads, stamps, labels, books, advertising displays, tins, toys and more, that show beautiful examples of Graphic Design, Lettering, Typography, Calligraphy and Printed history! Even people with little or no interest in these types of things have become fascinated by the space, the presses, the history and the amazing imagery that surrounds them here at The Box SF, and why our tagline is: "All Things Printed". Come and experience this unique destination and Event space in San Francisco, sign up for one of our Classes, Lectures or Workshops and attend our monthly Entrepreneurial Networking Events called "The Art of Active Networking! See ya soon!

Mark E

I purchased this Historic Building 14 years ago. It's the former William Randolph Hearst Printing Plant where the SF Examiner was printed in the late 1920's. As a Graphic Designer/Producer, I have been collecting Millions of Advertising Items for over 48 years. Our top floors are rented daily to Artists, Makers and others for Meeting&Events. We sell this material to collectors around the world and love it's rarity and beauty. Most people think it's a Museum, but with nearly everything for sale, people can buy awesome gifts from $2 to as much as $20,000 There is nothing quite like The Box SF!
