I purchased this Historic Building 14 years ago. It's the former William Randolph Hearst Printing Plant where the SF Examiner was printed in the late 1920's. As a Graphic Designer/Producer, I have been collecting Millions of Advertising Items for over 48 years. Our top floors are rented daily to Artists, Makers and others for Meeting&Events. We sell this material to collectors around the world and love it's rarity and beauty. Most people think it's a Museum, but with nearly everything for sale, people can buy awesome gifts from $2 to as much as $20,000 There is nothing quite like The Box SF!

Mark is really enthusiastic about the design and the print. He shows me lots of his collections, which range from the family photos glued on the card , the ancient trademark graphics of matches, tobacco, ancient bill dollars, and initial printing machines. It's so exciting and amazing!

Attention graphic designers, ephemera fans, collage artists and anyone who is interested in the history of letterpress printing. The Box SF is a wonderful place to see thousands of letters, labels, stamps, packaging and just about any other ephemera you can think of. Everything is for sale so you can come with deep pockets or a lot of self control but either way, you will be completely amazed by this collection. Highly recommend!

Went with my coworkers at lunch time and it was a fun group outing. Mark has a vast collection of ephemera and if you like graphic design/advertising/vintage items, you will certainly find something of interest. The speakeasy was a nice addition. It is open to the public as well so I will be back to shop!

Mark was very accommodating for our large group. He created a custom experience specifically for our team’s offsite. Thank you for the excellent experience, Mark!

Super interesting place with an amazing collection of items all woven together by a central theme of interesting design. It's really cool. From a completely unremarkable exterior you enter into a wonderful immersion in things you didn't even know existed. None of us are particularly design-oriented people and it was pretty cool. Mark himself is super nice and just right off the top of his head is able to give you the details and history of any item in there (and there are a lot!). Really fun and really complete tour. We're all recommending it to our co-workers.
