If you’re staying in Florence with some extra time, this is a great activity if you’re looking to get out of the city with all the tourists. The Tuscan countryside is truly beautiful, and the location of this farm truly captures that.
Ada’s son Francesco was our host, and he was so knowledgeable. You don’t get to actually make the cheese, but we didn’t mind that at all. Francesco showed us the process of how it’s made and the subtleties between each type of cheese. After the demonstration, he gave us a tour of the farm, where we saw goats, ducks, chickens, a horse, dogs, cats, and a herd of 150 sheep. If you like animals, this is a great activity for you. After the tour, we sampled different types of sheep and goat cheeses, which were so unique!
This activity exceeds what you pay for. Even though we didn’t have a car, we booked a regional train ticket from Florence to Figline and were able to get picked up by Francesco at the station, so transport was not a hindrance. So worth it!
