I started decorating marbled paper practically since I was born. I started at 3 years old and I learned the trade from my father who unfortunately is no longer here, he flew to heaven too soon after 30 years of experience. I try to carry on the family tradition to prevent my skilled trade from becoming extinct. I learned well from the teacher! I'm already marking my 4-year-old daughter's job!

This was a really fun and unique experience. I'm so glad I did it. I will say the location is slightly remote so it can be challenging to get there by bus (I had some issues related to transportation) so I'd suggest hiring a taxi, a car service or renting a car to get there, but it's definitely worth the time and effort to go and do it. Sara is a very patient teacher and though I know almost no Italian, she knows enough English to be able to teach effectively.

Great experience for any age! Really unique and great to learn a centuries-old craft that is super easy and fun to do. I chose Sara’s class over another in Florence because I could make large-sized (24x36-in maybe?) marbled paper. Sara has been doing this since she was a small child, following in her father’s footsteps, and is very knowledgeable. Be sure to look at her book of patterns and the colors used to make them. Very interesting. I was able to make about 10 papers and thoroughly enjoyed learning the various pattern techniques. She also sells small kits for you to do this at home. Fantastic idea - I bought 2 as gifts! Sara was a great hostess and very, very accommodating when I was 25 minutes late because of traffic. The studio is located out of the downtown area, about 25 minutes by car. But easy to find and street parking right in front of the shop/house. Highly recommend. Great way to spend a couple hours!

Absolutely amazing! This was the highlight of my trip and I will be talking about it for a long time. I felt very fortunate to take part in a historic Italian tradition with a paper-making family. Thank you, Sara, for the hospitality and sharing your inspiring trade with us.

I had a wonderful time at my Florentine paper marbling workshop with Sarah. Her studio is also her professional workshop where she creates marbled papers and objects for her clients, so you get to see and experience all the materials, equipment and techniques used by a professional marbler. Sarah was very knowledgable and experienced in her craft, having been practicing the family business since childhood. Her English was very good, and she was an excellent teacher who provided instruction but also allowed me to experiment and play. I took the workshop by myself and was able to create numerous marbled papers in a range of simple to complex patterns. The papers died quick and Sarah rolled them so I could take them home. I would recommend between 1-3 people for the workshop. Sarah meet me at my drop off location and walked me to the studio. She responded promptly to my texts, provided a smock to protect my closes, offered coffee and water, and her studio was clean, safe and inviting. I would highly recommend this workshop, it was an informative, positive and creative experience. Paper marbling has such an established and ongoing history in Florence so learning this during my stay was a must!

This was a wonderful experience. We were the only people there. She taught so many different techniques and you could tell she loved sharing her knowledge. I love that we were getting an experience from someone who has spent her life doing this. It was also really wonderful hearing about her father who started the business, even her little daughter does this. It was much more special learning from someone who has a true family history in this art. We walked away with so many beautiful pieces of paper (though no where near as good as her expert hand). We would do this again.
