What you'll do

We will explore the Maurepas Swamp by kayak fofrom our private landing on the Petite Amite River. Our small group size average of six ensures that you get a chance to ask our local naturalist guide all the questions you want. The quiet kayaks don’t scare wildlife away and allow us to get deeper into the swamp than you would with the large-boat operators. In fact, there are no other boat or kayak tours in the area where we go, which allows for a really special experience. Learn more and see more! The Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area is located halfway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Kayak, paddle, life jacket, and dry box provided.

We will navigate through shallow waters for two to three hours
Peacefully glide around the river bends while looking for gators and other creatures. Paddle slowly through narrow passageways surrounded by cypress and tupelo trees draped with Spanish moss.

Our kayaks are 2020 model Jackson Rivieras, which is a huge upgrade from the older models. Our maximum group size of twelve ensures that you can properly relax, avoid the crowds, and interact fully with your guide. We provide an authentic, educational tour that leaves you with a deeper understanding of what makes the ecosystems here so unique.

I founded an international ecotourism company after finishing law school. After operating tours around the world and growing the company for years, I decided the time was right to start offering tours in my home of Southern Louisiana. I have a depth of knowledge about wildlife, environmental protection, and travel photography. I love to help travelers connect with local people and organizations. My unique trip-building skills, environmental stewardship, and commitment to ethics are what set us apart from other tour companies.

I want to share the Louisiana that I love with you. No tour buses or giant tour boats here – we always do small groups with passionate local guides. If you want an authentic and off-the-beaten-path experience you’ve found the right place. Louisiana deserves a tour like this, and so do you.

I learned so many fun facts on this tour! The swamp was beautiful and I was very thankful that we were provided dry bags for our belongings that we wanted to take with us even though I wasn’t expecting them. The short drive was very worth it. I would recommend this to anyone visiting New Orleans to see more of the city.

Alligators aren’t guaranteed, but the tour is amazing regardless. Even beginner kayakers can get a hang of it.
