What you'll do
Gathered next to our guardian 240 years old tree, we start the ritual with an energetic and spiritual cleanse accompanied by the sound of the Atecocolli (charachoal) and a Poposcomi (censer). After that, we practice some movements known as Tonallin (Toltec Yoga) to unblock our body and energy. We finally get inside the sacred Temazcal where each us will take a place taking into account the cardinal points and the 5 elements (earth, air, wind, water and ether). During the ceremony, we use Mexican medicinal herbs to connect deeply with mother Earth and the memory of this ancient tradition. We work on emotions and mind to relieve stress, depression and other blocks on our vital energy. The Temazcal is a holistic alternative to help us relieve and clean negative emotions.
Other things to note
The Temazcal lasts 3 hours and a half. However,if you feel the need to get out you are free to do so.
When there is a group of more than 4 people, it can be done any day in the week

Hi! My name is Julio Evangelista, I´m from the Pueblo de la Candelaria, Coyoacán. I´m a
Temazcale runner. My family and neighbors inherited me this knowledge since I was a child. I was also trained on guiding Temazcales with the researcher Gustavo Fernandez. The Temazcal (sweat lodge) is a sacred ritual that comes from the Mesoamerican Toltec culture. Nowadays, I share this practice because I believe in its detoxifying benefits and its esoteric aspects since it reproduces cosmologic and ritualistic events of healing and purification.

Where you'll be
Casa Temazcalli is a sanctuary devoted to Quetzalcóatl (feathered serpent). Our place is near the city but far from its chaos. Its mystic and millennial trees, its vegetation and vegetable organic gardens make Casa Tepantitla a vast oasis inside the big city. Acomfortable place where you can enjoy your stay and connect to the nature.

I had a great time with Julio and Angela in the temazcal. They are easy-going, friendly, and will make you feel comfortable. It was a unique experience that challenged me, and made me think. If you are looking for something outside the norm to do in Coyoacan, you should do it!
