Guests enjoy inside access to a preservation farm with rare heritage animals and heirloom veggies, including one of the few organic heritage fainting goat herds in the country and the only Malabar Jilfan Arabian horses in the world.

Your picnic day begins with an orientation and release form. We then give you a 45 minute farm tour to meet the horses, donkey, goats and poultry. You will get to pet and feed the animals, as well as visit the gardens and learn about wildlife projects on our farm. After the tour we set you up for your picnic at the fire pit at noon with a view of the fishing pond, gardens and fields. We provide wood and grill top. Please bring your own food/supplies. While you relax with your meal, you can fish the pond (bass and bluegill, catch and release only). You have from noon to 5pm to enjoy your meal and the view. There is an outhouse (sanitizer provided).

No pets - Please give advance notice of service animals - no RVs/trailers

Our goal and hope is that your family has fun and leaves refreshed and recharged after the peace and beauty of the farm, with a new appreciation for gardens and farming.

I've been riding and studying horses more than 40 years, and raising goats more than 10 years. I'm the author of The Healing of Horses and The Energetic Goat, published by Acres USA. I originally learned horsemanship at the last junior cavalry school in the USA. I have years of experience with endangered species, from Red Wolves to Fainting Goats, and now critically endangered Arabian horse bloodlines. My passion is conservation and hosting and introducing people to horses and conscious horsemanship and the importance of rare breed and plant preservation, as well as soil-friendly permaculture farming. I offer a unique perspective on modern small farm business, combining a lifetime of mechanic, building, tech, conservation, camping, survival, gardening and farming experiences.

A lovely little patch steps from the barn and right next to the garden. Almost wish it hadn't been such a bright, sunny day, so we could've used the fire pit and free firewood, but as it was, the space was great for sunny day napping, reading, and snacking.

Great hosts! Carrie took us all on a tour of the wonderful farm and we all loved it. We were saddened to have left so early, but definitely looking forward to seeing the goats and the horses once again in the future. Will definitely recommend this experience!

What a gem! Our family of four loved the experience! We enjoyed a nice a picnic in the shade near the chicken coop, then loved mingling with the fainting goats. The history of these particular fainting goats - as well as how their personalities shone through and how engaging they were - just made this a perfect experience. Carrie was a wonderful hostess; she gave us a very nice tour of her beautiful farm. Highly recommend!

We are a family with 4 kids ranging from14 to 1year old. Everybody had a blast.Playing with the fainting goats was a very memorable event for the whole family. The goats are so friendly they love to be hugged, picked and petted. The horse we were introduced to was also very friendly. We saw frogs, salamander, fishes and turtle. Kids also had a lot of fun experiencing rooster, hens and ducks running around them. Carrie and Khalil were both excellent host and had great experiences to share with us. They also rent out a loft which will be booking for near future.

Carrie was a wonderful host with a noble goal of building a farm that treats animals with more humility. The experience was thought provoking and she answered all of my questions.
