What you'll do

Are you ready to start pollen in love with the sensational world of honeybees? Want to get off the bee-ten path? Then hive been waiting for ya! Join me for the BEST, most UNIQUE experience in Atlanta as we take a bee-hind the scenes look at a thriving honeybee hive!

We’ll begin this edutaining agritourism event inside the BUZZebo with a brief intro of all that we expect to see inside the hive (spoiler alert: lots of bees!) Although the honeys like to mind their own beeswax, we’ll suit up in an ultra figure-enhancing, protective bee suit and do a thorough safety check. Next, the pyromaniacs among us can fire up the bee smoker and we're off to the apiary!

Together, we'll geek out as we get an up close and personal look at how honeybees team up to rear young, turn nectar into honey, and tend to her majesty, The Queen! Your hands-on involvement is highly encouraged and I’ll pass off frames of bees to the participation-inclined among us, while teaching you to spot pollen, nectar, and developing bees, with plenty of time along the way for photo ops!

Now it's time to put your honey where your mouth is and transition to the ultimate sensory experience: the honey tasting flight! We'll talk through 9 different honeys, including our own Sneaky Bee wildflower honey!

Give me a buzz with any questions! I'll bee seein' ya!

*Mature kids welcome & I gear Sundays tours to accommodate them.

I’m a Certified Beekeeper who's been at this Backyard Beekeeping thing since 2017, and I’m one (very enthusiastic) half of the Sneaky Bee Backyard Honey team! Giving folks an exciting, hands-on look into the world of honeybees is my passion, and I regularly host beekeeping experiences as in-person mixers for Match, and lead honey tastings in the area.
Through the years, we’ve expanded our backyard apiary through lots of elbow grease, some hard lessons learned, and a few timely “here goes nothing!” experiments.
I’m looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm and passion for beekeeping with you!

Where you'll be

Tucker is a small town in a big city, and our backyard apiary is uniquely situated among the best native pollinator parks our area has to offer. Our bees have free access to an abundance of nectar & pollen, and the proof is in the pudding...or honey...honey pudding?

Ellen is a wonderful and knowledgeable host. I learned a lot and even though I was a little afraid to get too close, it was really cool seeing the bees. the honey was delicious too!

I went into this not knowing a thing about bee keeping or apiaries, and apparently honey. But I had a really good time. Ellen was awesome, very knowledgeable, very down to earth, funny, and kind. Felt safe and comfortable the whole time. And we had a good group of people that were all really into it and had fun. Definitely would recommend giving this a try.

1st time doing an Airbnb experience, especially something of this nature. My spouse and I had a great time. Ellen was very informative, everyone was nice and welcoming. Have no fear, You will be fully protected in the gear that Ellen provides. Being able to hold the hive in your hands and observe so closely was thrilling to say the least. At the end we had the pleasure of tasting 9 different honey’s, 1 being Ellen’s honey from her backyard honeybees. We were able to buy her honey after the experience.Ellen’s honey is delicious, I bought a 10oz honey in a glass jar . I was able to wrap it up and put it in my checked suitcase at the airport. The honey made it back home safely and it is delicious on biscuits, chicken and in my homemade teriyaki sauce . Thanx Ellen
