~ First stop, fresh market for ingredients.
~ Next, hands-on instruction and taste-testing accompanied by all the agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea) you can handle.
~ Once Salsas are made, together we Cook & Eat Quesadillas (as many as you want to eat)
~ Final touch because we know our audience: take home fresh salsa !

All of our Salsas are Plant Base!

We will meet at an ancient church located at the heart of Tacuba; which history goes way back before the spanish arrived to America. Steps away is the Tacuba Market where we will buy the fresh ingredients to cook our delicious variety of mexican salsas.

Then we will head to my place, 300 mts from the market and will get right to business. We will cook the salsas in the four traditional ways: raw, fried, boiled and roasted. All different in personality, flavor, chile and spicy level. You will be surprised how easy it is to cook salsa, at the same time we will prepare some quesadillas to eat with our salsas. Unlimited jamaica water included.

At the end you will leave with a jar of salsa and new recepies to take home!

When booking this experience you also support the local commerce.

Please consider experience can be held in more than one language simultaneously.

If you prefer different time or day, we can arrange it!

We can also cook Tamales, Pozole, Fish Tacos

I am a mexican cook with a life time passion for food, specially hot & spicy. I have had the opportunity to live around Mexico from north to south, coast to coast, always cooking with & for local & foreign palates, that is how I learned most of my recepies. As well as studies at the National School of Mexican Gastronomy. I love cooking at home & sharing a great meal.

I believe food brings people together & it goes beyond langages.

"When traveling, always visit, the local market, its where you find the real flavor & culture, is an opportunity to interact with locals & an excuse for amazing pitures!" Anthony Bourdain

Where you'll be

Tacuba is an ancient neighborhood with history that can be track back to the first civilizations in America, way before the Spanish Conquest. Few blocks from my home is located the famous "Árbol de la Noche Triste" where rumor has it, Hernan Cortez cried.

Relatively close to Condesa, Roma Norte, Polanco & Centro.

Natalia’s salsas experience was beyond fun. She is such an amazing teacher, and takes you through the process of making 4 different salsas, all of which turned out delicious. She has curated her ‘classroom’ with such thoughtfulness and good taste — background music, endless agua de Jamaica to drink while you cook, personal cook stations for each person, and jars to take home the finished products. I cannot recommend this experience enough!! If you’re in Mexico City, like to cook, and want to up your salsas game, this is 100% for you.

This class was so fun! Natalia is full of energy and love for cooking that is essential for a class like this. She made it easy to learn and adjusts the salsas to your taste. I loved getting a tour of the market and learning to identify how to pick the right ingredient for each salsa. Can’t wait to try these lessons at home!

This class was excellent! I loved making our way through the market and gathering ingredients, and then being invited and allowed into a Mexican person’s house made it feel so intimate and authentic. The salsas and quesadillas were all so delicious as well! Muchas gracias Natalia!

Natalia’s salsa-making class is a great way to learn about local produce and history behind salsa. All aspects of the experience are hands-on and Natalia is a wealth of knowledge. Her love for cooking and Mexican cuisine makes her an excellent teacher. The food is delicious - come hungry and don’t plan to have lunch within two hours of finishing the class. Highly recommend this experience!

A unique experience where you learn tasty salsas, learn about Mexican culture, hear folk stories about her Mexican family, get to know a local (non-tourist) region/market and make an amazing friendship with Yasmin. Worth every minute and every dollar, I recommend it 100%! Congratulations Yasmin for your work!

This was an exceptional experience for my husband and me! We felt like we were cooking with a friend! Going to the market added to the experience as Natalie knew everyone. Her home is welcoming and she shared so many great techniques we will be using as we make salsa. It brought up a lot of family stories cooking with my mom and grandma. I told Natalia it is clear she cooks with love which she shares with her students. Hope she expands her offerings.
