What you'll do

How often do you have the chance to spend time with an adorable pot belly pig? Well, here is your chance! All of the pot belly pigs at Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary have been rescued, whether from abuse, neglect, or simply owners who were not properly educated about how to care for them. With so many myths being perpetuated about these so called "mini pigs" we want to educate about what they are really like while we have fun spoiling them with you. Come and enjoy a piggy day when you can come, take a tour of our entire facility, learning about the work we do with horses, goats, dogs, cats, and pigs. Finish the tour by helping us to feed our pigs their dinner and some treats and you will get happy grunts and tail wags in return!

Other things to note

Whenever you are interacting with animals, it is important to keep in mind that animals can be unpredictable. They may accidentally scratch you or even grab a finger when they mean to grab a treat from your hand. Our pigs are not aggressive generally, but it is always best to be cautious around all animals!

I am a co-founder of Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary, Inc., a nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary dedicated to providing a quality life to the animals who need it the most. Rescuing and educating about animals is one of my passions in life, but I don't think I love anything more than I love pigs! Our herd of rescued pot belly pigs changed my life and taught me to think about the food on my plate, and look about animals as friends instead of food, and maybe they can do the same for you. Even if you do not choose to become vegetarian or vegan, you will still get so much out of an experience with our pigs, and it will be something for you to remember for a long time!

What a great place full of good hearts and people who really care about the well-being and souls of the animals they have rescued. The pigs were all very sweet and well behaved. The horses were so gentle considering some of the horrors these poor animals went through prior to getting saved by the wonderful people here. My favorite place was the room full of cats and kittens and getting loved on by the barn cat Tieg. My mom LOVED the experience as well and fell in love with the newest little addition Randall. His little tail swirled from side to side when you call his name. He wasn’t available to feed or play with yet as he was getting integrated to his new home but I know he will be a great addition to the tour when he is out with the others. We will definitely be back!

My bf and I had a really lovely time exploring the farm, seeing the animals, and getting to know the pigs. Would highly recommend!

My 10-year-old daughter and I had a wonderful visit to Wayward Ranch sanctuary. We enjoyed hearing the stories of the different animals and how they wound up at the sanctuary. Sanctuary staff were eager to share about the quirks that make each and every one of their animals special and deserving of the tender loving care the sanctuary provides. We helped feed the pigs and had plenty of time to pet them and scratch their backs and bellies and get them to roll over. We got to know some of the horses and goats as well, and the mule, but the very small animals like hamsters and guinea pigs are housed in foster homes offsite. The staff were friendly and professional. We are excited to go back to volunteer and help out this worthy cause.

We were just expecting the "pig experience" but got a tour of all the animals and got to meet them all. Super fun, educational, inspiring activity.

Love the experience! We met a lot of animal friends and heard all of their stories and how they arrived at the sanctuary! We had a lovely time with all the pigs in the farm. Thanks for providing such a magical experience, Maggie. :)

We had an absolutely wonderful time meeting all the animals and spending a little extra time with our new adorable pig friends! Special shout out to Tigue, the extra friendly kitty who let us pet him, and decided to groom me a bit after I’d been feeding Boo and Roz! Our host was also incredibly warm (Haley, I think?) and gave us great backgrounds on the animals. Definitely worthwhile, and based on those very happy critters, the kind of place you are happy to spend money!!!
