What you'll do

What We’ll Do:

We’ll start by visiting the local market, Sant’Ambrogio, to select seasonal produce directly from local farmers that we will use in our culinary experience together.

Once we arrive to the cooking terrace with a breathtaking view of Florence, we will have some “fettunta”, which is a toasted Tuscan bread, with some typical olive oil that highlights the 3 main Tuscan olive varietals. After we have fueled up with the fettunta snack we will get our hands dirty and I’ll teach you how to make fresh pasta by hand. We will make two fresh pastas, two sauces and tiramisu for dessert. To finish we’ll enjoy the fruits of our labor and of course TASTE!

Sample menu below, sauces and pasta shape may change based on in season fresh produce:

Antipasto:
Fettunta
*can be bruschetta with fresh tomatoes during tomato season

Primi:
Gnocchi al pomodoro
and
Tagliatelle with zucchini and cherry tomatoes

Dolci:
Tiramisu
Other things to note
Culinary experience can be personalized to accommodate vegetarian or gluten free options or food allergies, please communicate when booking
Sundays the market is closed and we visit a local butcher.

This started as a bit of a convenient space filler experience. I figured lets book a cooking class to give my family (wife and grown sons) a "taste" of Florence. It turned out to be a top highlight of our trip. We met our host in mid morning, toured and shopped in local markets (buying all fresh ingredients) and then proceed to his kitchen/studio to begin the cooking process. We settled into easy conversation and gently guided hands on directed cooking in perhaps the most amazing location. We shared amazing food, wine, stories and laughs. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Its a full day but worth every moment.

You don’t go to an AirBnb experience with the dream Italian chef (an old traditional Italian man who greats you with the perfect class, structure, & organization) — You go to an AirBnb experience to meet & speak with locals. Simone is a genuine man with tons of fantastic stories & an interesting life. His approach to your cooking class is passionate & fun with no structure necessary. Do enjoy this experience to make friends with each other. A great joy that made my trip to Florence worth it ! ❤️

My only recommendation would be for Simone to have a more thoughtful approach to his market tour. It would’ve been nice to learn more about the local market/ vendors we visited, rather than just walking through while Simone shopped for our class. Other than this, my partner and I thought Simone was a wonderful host, he had both wine and tequila for our class to enjoy while cooking. The Terrace Kitchen is such a unique experience and I would recommend anyone visiting Florence to book with Simone!

Simone is an excellent host who provided a brilliant cooking experience in such a beautiful and stunning location. I've learnt a lot and can't wait to impress friends and family with my new cooking skills. He is incredibly friendly and kind and makes you feel completely at home.

The view and location makes this experience. The food we made was also amazing and you can sit and eat it with prosecco provided by the host which was definitely one of our favourite experiences in Florence. However the host, Simone, seemed as if he didn’t have much enthusiasm about the experience. Unfortunately the host spent a lot of the day on his phone, the area was not well prepared when we arrived so there was a lot of waiting around throughout the experience. This kind of ruined the vibe and you are there for 5 hours. There was also a lack of instruction from Simone about how to cook the pasta properly. We didn’t learn any new cooking tips etc. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this experience. The location is unbelievable but Simone the host clearly is a busy person and didn’t have the necessary time to properly execute this experience.
