What you'll do
Are you ready to start pollen in love with the sensational world of honey bees? Then hive been waiting for you! Join me as we take a bee-hind the scenes look at one of the thriving colonies at Sneaky Bee Backyard Honey!
We’ll begin this edu-taining, agri-tourism event with a brief introduction of what we’re all about at Sneaky Bee, and what you can expect to see inside the hives (spoiler alert: lots of bees.) Although the honeys typically prefer to mind their own beeswax, you’ll suit up in one of our ultra figure-enhancing, protective bee suits and we’ll do a gear & safety check.
Together, we’ll geek out as we get an up close and personal look at how honeybees team up to rear young, store pollen, turn nectar into honey, and tend to her majesty, the queen! Your hands-on involvement is highly encouraged and I’ll pass off frames of bees to the participation-inclined among us, while teaching you to spot pollen, nectar, and developing bees (with plenty of time along the way for photo ops!)
After desuiting, it's time to put your honey where your mouth is and transition to the ultimate sensory experience...the honey tasting flight! We’ll go over how to examine a honey’s clarity, color, texture, aroma, and taste, just like a honey judge would. Each flight comes with an array of 5-8 honeys, including our own wildflower honey harvested here at Sneaky Bee!

I’m a veteran beekeeper of five years, and one half of the Sneaky Bee Backyard Honey team (the more spirited half, probably.) Through the years, my husband and I have expanded our backyard apiary through lots of elbow grease, some hard lessons learned, and a few “here goes nothing!” experiments. Most of my time is spent as a homeschoolin’ mama to our three wild kiddos, and our family enjoys getting outside as often as possible. I’m looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm and passion for beekeeping with you!
