What you'll do
The day starts at 06:00am. We launch the two seater 17 foot Hobie Pro Angler kayak and head out from the Malpais fishing village. We´ll stop to catch some bait fish to fill up our live well, as we enjoy the first sun rays coming up from behind the hills of Mal Pais and the Cabo Blanco National Reserve. Your guide will give you all the facts of the first established wildlife reserve in Costa Rica.
The ease of movement of the pedal kayak makes it a great way to get around the water, without the noise of a motor. Enjoy absolute silence, sense of wellness and tranquility of being in the ocean with an expert local guide that knows all fishing spots around and has 10+ years experience .
What you will experience on our tour is unlike anything you have ever done before. Being so close to the action makes it unforgettable. Bait fish jumping, birds diving, the smell of the sea, and the sound of your drag screaming......FISH ON!
The waters around Cabo Blanco Reserve here in Mal Pais are protected, being the breeding grounds of many species. Rooster fish, Cubera Snapper, Yellowtail, Corvina (seabass), Snook, Macarel, Bluefin Trevalli.
This is the reason why we practice a 95% CATCH AND RELEASE.
Depending on time of year, we have over 30 different species we can target on jigs, poppers, and live bait. Let's get out there and make it happen.
Other things to note
You can bring your own fishing gear, even dough we have all you will need.
If you might get sea sick, make sure you take proper medicine 1 hour prior to departure.

I have been in love with fishing my whole life. My grandfather was an avid angler in Canada, pursuing Salmon and Halibut. My Dad grew up fishing as well and I am a third generation fisherman who inherited a deep love of the ocean and a respect for everything that this activity involves. Hetre locally in Santa Teresa, I was taught by some of the most legendary fisherman there were; how to find bait, what tides were good to fish, when and how to catch certain species, and it has given me an edge for sure. I started kayak fishing when I was about 15, but before that we would paddle out on surfboards with a backpack full of handlines and bait, catch some fish, and then catch a few waves and go in for the day.
I have been doing this my whole life, the people I work with have as well. For us, fishing is more than a job. It is a passion.
