What you'll do

We will meet at Le Temps Perdu then take a short drive to the accessible boat launch on stunning Buck Lake. Slide the canoes into the lake packed with a delicious and refreshing picnic lunch, gear and blankets. Paddle for approximately 45 minutes through the clear waters passing a few untouched islands to the trail head. Following the trail through the diverse flora of the forest we will arrive at our picnic destination at the Mink Outlook. We will spend a relaxing hour at this location where you are welcome to explore the surroundings, nap or just soak up the sights and sounds. We will then make our way back to the canoes while I can identify some of the natural medicinal and edible plants. The afternoon sun will provide the backdrop for the return paddle to the boat launch. Lean back and feel the serenity of the waters slipping away beneath your canoe with a full belly and the warmth of the summer sun on your face. This excursion is perfectly tailored to satisfy both body and soul!

I am a retired professional equestrian who finds the wilderness guiding experience to be an exciting and rewarding activity. Having completed certification as a canoe guide though parks Canada in Frontenac Park specifically, the guided day trips that I have created will satisfy all levels of paddlers and nature lovers. As the park offers many different routes I can suggest options to suit a wide range of athletic preferences. Frontenac Park is located within the breathtaking scenery of the Canadian Shield and UNESCO's Frontenac Arch Biosphere. It is truly a hidden gem on our doorstep.

Where you'll be

Using the boat launch accessed from Buck Lake allows for an entrance to Frontenac Park that provides the feeling of discovery for paddlers. It is an informal and more natural approach to the inner beauty of the park. The view from Mink Outlook is the most spectacular vista found within the park. While hiking the well marked and groomed trails, the forest is categorically unique being under protection by UNESCO for its unparalleled biodiversity.

We had an excellent day with Hermann! We started out on the canoe trip but ended up turning around due to strong winds. Hermann then took us to a different location for the hiking part. It was a great trail with an really nice lookout over a large valley. The fall colours were amazing. Super great day and we really enjoyed visiting with Hermann as we walked.

The trip was amazing. It was our first time on a canoe and Hermann taught us very well. The hike to the lookout was a bit of a challenge but it was a very good experience. Hermann is very knowledgable about the subject and shares his knowledge with great passion. A big thanks to Tracey was well for the amazing lunch! I would definitely recommend this experience to others.

My husband and I did the canoe and hiking trip. The location is magical. Hermann (the guide) is very knowledgeable and passionate about nature. It was a great mix of canoeing and hiking to a spectacular lookout where we had lunch. Tracey (Hermann’s wife) made a healthy and very delicious lunch! Thank you. We really enjoyed the laidback atmosphere. Nature recharges people and calms the mind. We highly recommend this trip and would like to return soon! Thank you!!!

Fantastic experience overall. Ideal for someone who wants to come close to wilderness without an overnight sleep. Light to medium level of difficulty, ideal for beginners and kids. Great views, full day adventure. Host Hermann is very attentive to individual skill level and speed. Highly recommended.
