What you'll do

Take the controls of a real WWII aircraft! You'll get to experience flight as the WWII Aviation Cadet experienced it, with an opportunity to take the controls. Over 70 years ago, young men and women took their first steps into the world of flight in aircraft just like this one. Referred to as "The Cradle of Heroes," the Fairchild PT-19 trained many of the famous WWII aces and bomber pilots of the 1940s. This is a one person, 30 minute flight experience, but plan your visit to be about an hour or more.
**We fly year round, but this aircraft is not heated and does require a minimum outside temperature of 40 degrees**

After your airplane ride, you can enjoy our WWII Museum inside a historic 1930's hangar, with artifacts ranging from newspaper articles to uniforms and much more.

From beginning to end it was amazing. I surprised my husband and father in law with this experience... it was priceless. We brought the family as well and had time to learn about what our HEROS did for us in war. We learned about planes, military, WWII and so much more. Everyone at the hanger was so welcoming and like a family. I cannot write enough kind words to say about each individual there and how we will all cherish this experience. Do yourself a favor and reverse time and take a ride that will change your life. You will see things a little different with the education you will end up getting.

Informative host regarding the plane in all aspects plus personal antidotes that made the experience special. Very instructional and gave heads up about everything as they transpired. Museum was fitting, personal tribute to those who have served.

I surprised my son and husband with flights in the Fairchild PT-19 with Tim. We were visiting our son at UD with both grandmothers over parent’s weekend. My father-in-law trained in the Fairchild PT-19 before leaving for WW II as a bomber pilot. Tim took the time to reminisce with my 90 year old mother-in-law while answering questions about flying the plane from my son and husband. He tied the past to the present in such a way that everyone had a great time! The boys each took the controls during their 30 minute flights. The GoPro footage was absolutely hilarious as our son experienced how tender the controls could be. We would all highly recommend this experience with Tim. He took the time to answer every question, was so knowledgeable and such a great teacher. The experience was very good value for the time and money.

Make sure to take in this experience. These historic planes won’t be flying forever and this is your chance to fly in an open cockpit WWII trainer. The on site museum is free.
