What you'll do

Walk downtown Salt Lake stopping at the best coffee shops, cafes and local hotspots for the best downtown has to offer. Have a fun Instagram worthy day of food, drinks and local culture along with tons of tips and suggestions for the rest of your trip. We will also use the local trax train to help you learn how to navigate the city using public transportation. In total we will spend about 3 to 4 hours together visiting some of the most well-known sites in the city such as Temple Square, Gallivan Plaza (one of the sites of the 2002 Olympic games) and Library Square as well as some local favorites such as the Pie Hole, and Ken Sanders Rare Books. Stopping at coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants based on your interests and food preferences. The best part about traveling with a local is that I can adjust to help create the best experience for the group.

Salt Lake City or SLC as locals call it, is a fun big city with a small town feel. I grew up downtown and have come to love the local coffee shops, cafes, and culture. People tend to have a ton of misconceptions of what SLC is like before they arrive. I want to help people see what life in Salt Lake is like for a local. The mountains might bring you here, but the local treasures will keep you wanting to come back. Join me for a local tour and follow my tours on Instagram for more hidden gems @sip.snack.stroll.slc

Where you'll be

We will be stopping at some of the more famous downtown sites like temple square but spending more of our time at some off the beating path locations. My favorite is the main library not only has it won many awards for its architecture but it is my favorite place with beautiful views of the whole valley from the roof. We will also be visiting some local pastry shops and local award-winning restaurants and excellent local coffee shops.

We had a full day in SLC to visit before we headed South to Zion and wanted to learn about the city as much as we could. Kate was the perfect guide for us. She was super friendly and full of energy! She told us about the Mormon culture while walking with us through Temple Square and also shared a lot of the SLC counter culture while sharing an Irish Coffee in a great local bar/restaurant. She was a great story teller and companion. We felt like we were hanging out with an old time friend. We learned a lot with Kate, walked to places we wouldn’t have checked if we were not locals and got a really good flavor of the city. We ended our tour drinking a delicious coffee in a local coffee shop. Kate also gave us numerous suggestions of places to eat both in SLC and in our way to Zion. All her recommendations were on point! Please contact Kate if you are visiting SLC. Made our visit so much worth it!

Kate was so warm and welcoming! Her love of Salt Lake City and her insane background knowledge and personal stories about the city made it the best possible first day experience. It felt like leaving an old friend when the tour was over. After spending the morning and afternoon with her, our group felt like we knew the ins and outs of the city and felt comfortable walking anywhere or using the TRAX. She is wonderful at what she does, highly recommend!
