What you'll do

So you're visiting Maine, great choice! I was born & raised here in Portland & love sharing the best of my home state with others. There's endless beauty to be seen & photographed here. I'm happy to share it with you & help you capture the best images. A typical day on a Maine photo tour would involve a sunrise shoot at one of the areas many iconic lighthouses. Following breakfast we shift to shooting more detailed scenes and any wildlife in the area. During our mid-day break we can review & enjoy the results from our morning session. The afternoon will give us time to to expand your photographic knowledge. Even if you are a beginner, you’ll be provided with guidance to technical aspects such as the secrets to strong composition; mastering depth of field for every situation; harnessing the light through exposure control; finding the correct color in the world of white balance; reading your histogram like a book; and how to maximize the capabilities of your equipment to get the results you want to see in your photos. In the evening we'll once again be set up to capture the golden light of sunset as it casts its warm glow over the landscape. Besides excelling in photographic knowledge & guiding services, I'll also share the best restaurants when you need a bite to eat!

I was born and raised on the picturesque coast of Maine, and thus have intimate knowledge of the best destinations & hidden corners of the state. I've been leading international photo tours for over a decade, but Maine is hands down my favorite place in the world. My wife and I live just north of Portland with our three sons. My objective is to ensure clients learn how to create compelling, beautiful images, combined with having the very best experience. The testimonials on my website verify the investment I put into each participant on every tour. Their words are the true measure of success & what validates my title as a professional. I’m repeatedly told by my clients that they learned more over a week with me than they have in years. Join me for an upcoming trip & experience for yourself why your photographic happiness is guaranteed.

Where you'll be

Your Maine photo tour will begin with a sunrise shoot at dawn. Depending on the light and weather we'll move to shooting more detailed scenes as the light gets harsher in the mid-morning hours. The afternoon will involve executing what we learned in the morning session followed by our sunset shoot for the golden hour at the end of the day.
