We will meet in my home, where we have lots of natural light and everything we need for messy and fun baking time!

I love to host and to have guests I have been doing this all my life with friends and family and so to call it a job: is a dream come true.

To start our experience, we will talk a little bit about me and my family since this is a recipe that belongs to my grandmothers and we have been doing it for years, so you can understand the uniqueness and how lucky I was when growing up eating these amazing Pastéis.

This is a hands-on class, we will bake everything from scratch as a group with my help! That is the most important part, we will create the most amazing Pastel de Nata because we will put lots of love, time and care into them. Everybody will help, we will take turns and I will give you a lot of fun facts regarding the story about them and who created
Other things to note
You don't need to be a baker to do this experience - the recipe is simple and I will guide you through all the process!

Hello!

I'm Joana, born and raised in Porto, a lover of all things cooking and baking related, travel enthusiast and a Tourism Management graduate. I love my city, our traditions and I know a lot about it since I never lived anywhere else.

Office working style it's not my thing - hosting, teaching, learning, meeting new people everyday, telling stories and hearing fabulous adventures from fellow travelers are my passions.

I come from a traditional (and by traditional, of course I mean a very loud) Portuguese family with a deep love for homemade dishes.
My grandmothers were AMAZING in the kitchen and being able to grow up with these unique family owned recipes has been so special - I welcome you to enter this world of love, good food and endless stories.

Can't wait to meet you!

I had an amazing time with Joana. Moving to Porto, she made me feel super welcome and also gave us a lot of background information via beautiful artwork! I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

It was a very nice and comprehensive course Moans offered to us. I recommend to participate in her course early at your stay in Porto since she knows the city AND how to make Pasteis very well. Thank you Joana!

I LOVED this experience. We learnt so much about Pastel da nata - the history, how they're made and all about Joana's family history with making these delicious pastries! Joana was so friendly, professional and it felt more like visiting a friend than taking a class. Joana shared the recipe and now i'm home (and once I have chance), i'll be baking my first batch and cannot wait! After sampling many pastel da nata's in Porto, the homemade ones are definitely the best - I cannot recommend this experience enough. Thank you Joana and see you next time! :)

Amazing experience, I would highly recommend Joana's experience. She took the time to give background to the recipe. Throughout the experience Joana explained the recipe and what we were doing in the various stages. It was really nice at the end to spend time chatting over coffee and juice and enjoying our pastel de nata. Joana also gave us some great advice on where to eat in the city! A definite highlight of a trip to Porto and really great insight. I would do another of Joana's experiences once we come back to Porto. A unique and must do experience in Porto!
