What you'll do

Join me as I take you on a rural walking tour of the beautiful East Sussex countryside. Following hard-to-find paths that I have discovered over many years of walking, this circular route begins and ends in the village of Maresfield, around 45 minutes outside of Brighton. It takes in the very finest that the area has to offer - rolling fields, flowery meadows, epic forests and picturesque villages, not to mention one of Sussex's finest pubs.

We'll meet at the Maresfield Recreation Ground, where there is free and plentiful parking. From there we will embark on a spectacular 3-hour, 7.5 mile countryside walk, hiking through gorgeous woodland to the village of Piltdown, passing majestic houses and estates along the way. You'll learn about the unique history of the area as we go.

From here we make a beeline across rolling English countryside to the quintessential village of Fletching and one of Sussex's finest country pubs, The Griffin Inn, where we'll stop for a quick drink and to enjoy the remarkable views of the Ouse Valley below.

Next, we begin the return leg back to Maresfield, meandering through flowery meadows, serene farmland, orchards and vineyards. We'll stop for a peaceful picnic lunch along the way and arrive back in Maresfield for around 3pm.
Other things to note
If you do not have your own transport and require picking up, please state this when booking and I will do my best to accommodate.

I am Sussex born and bred and have spent years seeking out and following the county's uncharted countryside pathways. Much more than just beautiful country walks, I take pride in my knowledge of the history of the area and (most importantly), it's best country pubs. I like to think that you'll go away after your time with me a little more knowledgeable on, and in love with, the English countryside, not to mention rejuvenated from quality time spent with nature.
