What you'll do

Update: San Diego County allowed kayak tours to reopen on May 15th, and it has been fantastic being back on the water! A fun and safe experience is always our number one concern!

The La Jolla Ecological Reserve is the premiere snorkeling spot in California. To fully interact with all the amazing sea life in the Ecological Reserve, our kayak and snorkel tour is a great option.

We kayak over by Sunny Jim's cave and then snorkel. While kayaking/snorkeling we see sea lions, seals, bat rays, garibaldi, and sometimes sea turtles. Note: we cannot guarantee what sea life or any sea life we will encounter, but La Jolla does have one of the highest concentrations of sea life in California.

La Jolla is one of the premier snorkeling spots in California, but there are days that the visibility might only be 5 feet or can be as good as 50 feet. Ocean visibility and safety will determine how long we snorkel or if we can snorkel. This tour is 2 hours and typically we snorkel for 20 to 30 minutes, max.

Being able to swim is advised and participants must be at least 7 years old. If conditions are not safe enough to anchor the kayaks we cannot snorkel. Note: We DO NOT kayak or snorkel inside any of any caves on this tour. Our Kayak La Jolla tour can kayak in the caves.

Satisfaction Guarantee: If you feel the value was off, please contact me after your tour.

I have loved being on the water since I can remember and pursued this passion as soon as I graduated college. With great friends, we started Everyday California, an ocean adventure company, in 2010. Our GUIDES are experts on the water and will make sure you have a memorable experience!

I am permitted by the City of San Diego and SD's Lifeguard Services to operate a kayak concession in La Jolla.

Where you'll be

We'll meet at Everyday California, 2261 Avenida de la Playa in La Jolla, CA 92037, which is located just blocks away from the La Jolla Shores Boat Launch, Underwater Park, 7 Sea Caves & Ecological Reserve. Our shop has lockers & wetsuits for all shapes and sizes to rent and 5 fitting rooms. Once geared up it's a quick walk to La Jolla's natural boat launch where we will go through a paddle tutorial.

This is a tour booked with Every Day California. This is not a unique experience or small group tour. You can just book through the Every Day California website and get the same thing. Also, I do not remember the listing clarifying that this is four double kayak only. I felt this could have been more clear. I do not believe this is appropriate to list through AirBnB.

This experience was so amazing. We could freely explore and this was an amazing price. The guides helped us with anything and made us feel welcome

This trip was really quite ordinary and not worth the time or money. The snorkeling didn't really have much to offer ( a few fish, a small shark, sea lions, no coral or anything else). Admittedly, this is not the caribbean, but the guides could have been more useful in trying to point out what was there by paying personal attention which they did not. There was minimal kayak instruction, so most of the participants didn't fare well. All in all, I would say don't waste your time. An additional irritant was the add on costs for everything including a locker, sales tax, wetsuit, etc..

Had a great time and the guides were really knowledgeable and dependable as I got in the wrong tour but they still managed to get me to my tour while providing me the equipment needed for it.

Awesome experience and a great workout! This was awesome to be able to kayak to a destination and enjoy some awesome sights in the cove. My Mediterranean boyfriend was afraid of seeing sharks and saw a very small baby nurse shark—and was stoked on it! I saw garibaldi and sheepshead fish and thoroughly enjoyed the caves and ambience. Definitely would do something else again with this company.
