About the organization: Invisible Cities

Invisible Cities is a social enterprise that trains people who have experienced homelessness to become walking tour guides of their own city. We offer alternative tours of Edinburgh, all focused on what our guides are passionate about! We use 100% of our profits for the development of our guides or to give back to the community.

This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to Invisible Cities.

Where you'll be

We will start on the Grassmarket and end at the Scottish Parliament.

After hearing about Maggie Dickson's story, you will discover the Grassmarket Community Project and will go up to Greyfriar's Cemetery where you will be told about Edinburgh's first body snatchers but also about the representation of women throughout the city.
We will then go down the Royal Mile, to learn about JK Rowling, and her Rags to Riches story.

Paul was a great and very personable guide. We really enjoyed the stories of Edinburgh's strong women and the bonus stories related to Harry Potter, bodysnatchers and cemetery dogs! It was also good to find out about all the great work being done to tackle homelessness in Edinburgh. A great couple of hours that flew by.

Learn about some extraordinary, un-celebrated women of Scotland, particularly Edinburgh. View important sites related to the women, hear their stories. and benefit the city’s homeless at the same time! A very special tour!

Paul was a great guide, we learnt so much about the city and the women (good and bad) that made an impact on the history. Fantastic tour.

This tour is fantastic! Paul was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely funny and caring. A few people did not show up to the tour, so I was lucky enough to get a private tour with Paul. He took me to the famous sites (and indulged me in my Harry Potter obsession) and also told me about the influential women who are not highlighted throughout Edinburgh. Paul is an interesting person with many life experiences, so it was nice to chat and share our perspectives. Invisible Edinburgh is a phenomenal organization and I appreciated learning about their resources and receiving this tour. Definitely do this tour! It was the highlight of my trip!

Paul was an excellent and knowledgeable host, mixing little known facts and secrets with his own stories of living in Edinburgh. This was a couple of hours very well spent!
