What you'll do

Begin your walking exploration of Rotterdam's highlights when you meet your guide under the clock at the modern Central Station at 10 AM. Then head to the city center, passing post-war reconstruction monuments such as the shopping area, Lijnbaan. Stop for a photo of the Timmerhuis building, rising like a cloud of glass and steel above the city. Hear about Rotterdam's history from your guide, an expert on architecture and art history. Explore landmarks such as the pre-World War II Laurens church, Rotterdam's Cube Houses, and the modern Markthal building, famous for its ceiling artwork. Relax over a snack at the indoor market before continuing your walk. Stroll along the river Maas, taking in the impressive views, and see the new developments on the south bank before concluding around 12:00 PM on the riverside with an Amazing skyline view.

Architecture Walk Rotterdam is organized by Silvia and Tania - an architect and an artist/landscape designer, both living and working in Rotterdam. We are driven by our love for the city, our passion to explore it, and the desire to share our knowledge with the rest. Rotterdam is the architectural capital of the Netherlands. The city is like an open museum of architectural styles and achievements, an example of postwar reconstruction, modern planning, and development. It’s a vibrant, cosmopolitan place of nice people and multiple cultures. We are proud to present our wonderful city to you!

J’ai vraiment beaucoup aimé cette visite ! Sylvia était très investie, le parcours bien pensé avec une petite histoire à chaque étape et des images pour mieux illustrer ses propos. Je recommande vivement !

Very knowledgeable, drew from her expertise as an architect, and had many stories + historical context you would never get walking around yourself. Exactly what I was hoping for from the description - and more!

Tania's love of Rotterdam and its architecture shines through on this tour. There wasn't a set script, memorised and repeated but Tania brought the city to life through its buildings, the people who build them and the community that now enjoys them. Highly recommended for architecture lovers and for those with a general interest in the city and its history!

It’s always nice to take a specialized tour with a knowledgeable host. Tania’s background in arts and architecture, and her careful planning with historical photos and future plans, contributed greatly to the tour. I felt comfortable asking questions and she made a point to research and follow up with me afterwards to answer what she couldn’t on the spot. I would recommend this tour to everyone, as there is much you can learn about this city. I was even able to tell a native Netherlander about some things he didn’t already know!

Tour was very informative and the stories were interesting. Tania also catered to our interests and understanding of architecture. She has a deep understanding of the history, architecture and even the future of what Rotterdam will be like due to her experience working in the industry. Great tour! Highly recommend! :D
